Your Going To Die Today !
Your Going To Die Today !
Someone was telling me about a crash they witnessed on the freeway. They veered off the road and hit a bridge and the car started on fire. It occured to me that a mere few short seconds before that person crashed, they had no idea that in 3 seconds their life would come to an end.
Heres my question, if you knew when you were going to die, would it add a sense of urgency to your life ?
What would you do different if anything ?
Why cant you do these things now without knowing when your time is up ?

Consider how much difference punctuation makes:
Me too!
v.
Me too?
Me too!
v.
Me too?
Nullius in verba ... ☎||||||||||| ... To Fate I sue, of other means bereft, the only refuge for the wretched left. ... Hold no regard for unsupported opinion.

I always assume I'm close to death. I can't even remember when I started thinking that way, but I can recall it being on my mind at school. To the best of my ability my affairs are in order, my instructions are to hand, my funeral service is planned and people know where to find the right hymns. Each day's my last by default, I keep being surprised when tomorrow turns up but the mental assumption remains.

I wouldn't change anything in my life as I'm quite happy with my lot, but I'd probably stop being annoyed by unimportant trivialities and be more thankful for being alive.

Upon the knowledge of my impending death, how much time I had would determine how much urgency I would have.
Knowing what time frame i had,I would commence settling scores and making sure my child is ready too accept my fate, and too make sure she gets whats coming too her.So she will always know I love her and will be with her now and fore ever.
Then the rest of my time will spent chasing people down that done me wrong.deal with them, make the rest of there lives are crap. And yeah,I will take take some too hell with me.

I think I would pretty much carry on as normal but make sure that I said goodbye to my kids and my brother and sister...I'd also make sure that all the washing and ironing was done...not joking....I'm paranoid about that kind of stuff.

I would continue as always, my loved ones know everyday I love them-I tell them so.
I would like to go while playing the piano, or writing on my works, or composing a pretty poem.

well if I only had a day there would not be much I could do in just a day, I suppose I would gather my family and have a proper farewell party, cry with them, laugh with them, tell them all I love them, I think I would make a few phone calls and tell a few people I forgive them, and I would make a few other calls or emails and tell a few I think they are complete***'s and may they rot and then tell them to have a nice day ahahahahahaha
If I had more time, oooo I would give away all my stuff, split my assets among my children, and take one last trip... to where I have no clue.

NOMADNESS we already know this fact we are all going to die period. No one gets off this rock alive.. so with that knowledge I live each day like it may be my last... Lots of Ice Cream, special days with family and friends, and I continue to hopefully help others in need that good enough for me...
Just keeping it simple..

MOTTO TO LIVE BY:
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.
WOO HOO!!, what a ride!!!"

Me too.
That really helped me cope when my mother suddenly dropped dead.
I felt nothing was left unsaid. :-6

Did anyone see the movie Night Mother w/ Anne Bancroft and Sissy Spacek ? The premise is the daughter is going to commit suicide that evening. Her mother tries desperately and franticly to reason with her. Just the two characters in the film. I give it 5 popcorn kernels.

I remember that one, Nomad. I was also thinking of that song by the country singer (cannot remember his name) called "Live Like You were Dying". Not living reckless, but living life to fullest.
I am not sure I would change much, except maybe to leave my job so I could devote time to things I really wanted to do before I died.

I would probably have an overwhelming sense of sadness: I wouldn't know if I was going to see my beautiful little boy again:-1

I have plans and goals that take time to build and fulfill. If I knew I would die before completing them, I would be able to re-prioritize. If I were always running around tying up supposed loose ends, I'd never accomplish much.

I see most folks want to spend more time with loved ones..or enjoying the sites and people around them. That is neat.
I do not remember the exact wording of the quote, but I remember one where the thought of it was that no one ever lay on thier deathbed wishing they had spent more time at thier job.
I think that is why I posted I would leave mine. I like my job...but my life has its priorities.

A doctor once told me that I had meningitis and it was severe! Knowing it was life-threatening, my very first thought was that I was glad my financial affairs were in order and that I wasn't leaving a big MESS behind!
