Far from the sea?

I know we have some folks in here who are lucky enough to live near the coast. I live in Tamworth and it's officially the town in England which is most distant from the sea. As an island nation it's still not too bad. I reckon its about 130 miles to the Lincolnshire coast and also to Somerset.

Of course some of our friends around the world will envy a distance of 130 miles to the ocean.

Do you live far from the sea?. If you do, have you ever been?

If you live close, would you ever move away?

Ah Uncle Kram. I'm a Sydney girl. Which means I have salt sea water in my veins, and am happiest in mermaid mode. And yet, I have spent many years living inland. Always love the sea. Always go back to it whenever I can.

I live in Hereford which is miles and miles from the coast.

I totally love the sea and if I could ever afford it I would move and live right on its' doorstep tomorrow.

My very favourite place is Cornwall but I also love some parts of Wales and the North-East coast is beautiful as well.

Haven't been on holiday since 1993 due to family problems/commitments but I shall get back there one of these days!:-3

I am a 1/2 mile walk from the Chesapeake Bay-it is very pretty. But an official beach is 3 hours away.

I lived 20 miles from the California beaches, and miss them very much. The first thing, after family, I always want to see when I go home is the mountains-outside of my home there-and the beach.

The beach is so beautiful, and a calming place to live.

Pam, found a beautiful picture for my screensaver this morning of the 12 Apostles on the coast of Victoria, it's already one of my favourite pcitures, a lovely place, I'm quite envious.

I live about 45 minutes from the beach in Massachusetts, but I'm more of a fan of the southern waters.

My hubby's family has a place in Florida that is about 7 minutes from the ocean

warm water, the color of turquoise

It's so special to me

Once you've lived near the water, it's very difficult to live without it :-6

I've lived all my life close to the sea, but thats not too difficult when you live right down at the bottom of Cornwall!

I don't think I would ever move away from the sea.

I live about 2 miles from the beach and about 1/2 miles from the downs (countryside). If I had to choose what I gave up, it would be the seaside which I don't appreciate as I should. The beach is stony and steep and the English Channel is not the cleanest place to swim, however, the sea breeze and fresh air are fantastic. I also fell out of love with the seaside when my body fell out of love with sexy swimsuits * sigh*....about 25 yrs ago.

That's a long way from me, Chocoholic but about two years ago I drove the Great Ocean Road and saw those wonderful rocks. The next week, three of them collapsed into the sea. Really. (I did NOTHING!!!) I think there's eight left now.

Uncle Kram I'm a California girl head to toe. I was born and raised in San Diego I have spent all my life by the Ocean and I would die if I couldn't see it each day, it is in my blood. :-6 There is nothing more beautiful that to sit in the sand and watch a sunset just makes you glad to be alive.

As a kid I spent the entire summer vacation at the beach surfing, boogie boarding, body surfing and just having fun.. The beaches here are beautiful..:-4

This is where I live its a five minute walk to get there, all down hill, great going down but hard getting back up, luckily we have a lift that can bring me back to around the corner from my apartment.

we lived in Orlando for 10 years and were only an hour away from the water in either direction. I loved that. I would love to live on the beach if I could.

Now we're in San Antonio, about a 2 hour drive to the Gulf of Mexico.

WOW Sheryl !!!!!!!!! I met some relatives in Norfolk, England a while ago. They lived in a wonderful thatched cottage in a pretty little village about twenty miles from the sea, but the children had never been there. !!!

I'll hafta ask him indoors, when he returns, Pinky. His rellies, not mine. Grin. But a really pretty village. We actually took the children (who weren't even all that young) to see some waves. The UK is a pretty thin island (at least by Australian standards) and nowhere is terribly far from the sea. I took a teenager from the center of Illinois all the way to Connecticut once, to see the sea for the first time. He was bowled over.

I miss the sea, a lot, I used to live in Plymouth in Devon, about two minutes walk from Devils Point. I'd take the mutt up there before I went to work, and after I came home. It's right by the mouth of the river Tamar, where it empties into Plymouth Sound, beautiful! As Uncle Kram mentioned, you can't get much farther from the sea than where I live now!
