I miss my Dad too. We were close. Some of my happier childhood memories were sitting in a rowboat, just the two of us, far from discord and noise, in companionable silence - dangling a fishing line, and gazing into the green water.

We went to look at houses because he is thinking about moving here with his girlfriend. He was upset about leaving but he missed Tammy so much. I took him to so many places.. We had fun-My daughter just loves him so much.. All she kept saying was " I love you soooooo much, grandpa.." It was so cute. My husband got choked up too when he went into the gate.. It was hard to see him walk away & just disappear.. I thought I would let you all what has been going on since I haven't been in here too often in the past week!! Hope all is well!;)

I'm so happy that you have such a close relationship with your Dad
And I noticed that you said how *much* you appreciate it.
That is wonderful -- the ability to appreciate what you have is what it's all about.
He is a lucky man to have such a special daughter in you. :-4

Well he left.
TGirl, since my mom passed away one day after my birthday in 2003, I have called my father every day (give or take a couple) at 8:00 a.m. We are both early birds, so I know if I can catch him before he starts his day, I feel good.
He is 80 years old and still lives in the house I grew up in. He does his own yard work and cleans the house (always spotless!). He cooks his own meals and spends lots of time with friends during the day.
As far as our 8:00 a.m. calls go, I do it much more for me than for him. Just knowing each day that he is O.K. feeds my heart. And every phone call is ended with an "I love you" and kisses blown into the phone -- both of us do it.
