Sage aka/Sagebrush, aka Pain in my butt was one of the sweetest gents you 'd ever want to know. When you first met Mel (sage) you thought he was the most obnoxious, overbearing, pushy etc. type of person you could ever meet. When you let yourself get to know him you found an insecure, soft-hearted, pushover that would give you the shirt off his back almost before you asked for it.

Mel was a very talented man. He could do anything with a computer, paint ( I have a Mel Carter original on the wall in my living room), work with clay figures, cry with me when we listened to Yanni and argue with me till I wanted to beat him half to death.

He loved people and kids and animals.

He had a habit of inviting himself to my house for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc. dinners at the very last minute. One Christmas I hadn't heard from him for over a year and out of the blue he calls and wants to know if he had a plate set on the table for him. I told him there was no way cause I thought he had dropped off the face of the earth. He then gave me his sob story about staying home and having hot dogs for dinner. I told him he had till 2 pm to get to my house or I was going to throw his plate away.

When his Mom was still living he would bring her to our house for holiday dinners. She was a sweet lady and he always said she enjoyed it sooo much. I think it was is excuse for a free meal. :yh_wink

Mel was a very special person in my life. I think my life would have gone wanting not to have had Mel for a friend. I miss him everyday.

This is Mel and me and his lovely grand dauther Desiree. They spent a couple days with me about a year or so before he died.

I miss my grandparents terribly. But they are always with me. I believe they still influence my dreams. Guide my steps. So they are never far from me.

I too miss all my passed close relatives as my Mother and Two sisters. When I smell lilacs each spring I miss my mother so much.

In forum garden I miss LC and Far rider. Did Far get booted also? Would some one be so kind to let me know. I'm not an insider here but I still have likes of certain people here.

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.

Jagged...I didn't know you'd lost your dad as a child! I'm sorry. I lost mine when I was only seven. He was a Navy pilot and went down with his plane at sea.

It's hard. It's also only later in life that I realize how important the presence of a dad is in a girl-child's life.
