How can cremation "hurt" when the brain and all sensory organs are dead? That one confuses me?
Really the point trying to me made is, that "Cremation" is burning by fire, & and some say evil souls are supposed to be tourtured in He!l by the fires of He!l. When does the soul leave the body, & or does it ever?
My belief is that when a person dies, what happens to the body cannot be 'felt'. It is just a mass of organs and bones and tissues. The person and the feelings have already left.
I'm curious if you decided to become an organ donor or not. If you'd care to keep it private, I absolutely honor your privacy. I also think that each and every person has to do what they feel is right to them. For example, my husband is *not* an organ donor. He is just not comfortable with the idea of it.
Ok the deadline was today to mail in my form, & it was mailed, & had a check mark in the donor box! Yikes! :yh_neutra

On another note. My uncle was cremated , his kids scattered his ashes on my grandparents grave. The wind was blowing and it blew ashes right into my mouth. I did'nt know wether to laugh cry or throw up. The rest of my reletives who witnessed this had a hell of a laugh when the immediate family was not around.
At one time, I wanted to go with all my parts. When my son was born and in intensive care, seeing all these babies around him struggling, it made me aware of what a selfish decision that was. If my child were in need of an organ, I would hope some parent out there would be thoughtful enough to give other children a chance at life. I hope that someday, I am able to give a child a few more years with their parents, a parent a few more years with their child, and the chances to lead a normal life. Those parts are of no use to me when I'm dead, but can be useful to so many who still have the chance to live on.
you have definitly started looking at it as it should, not as a requirement but as a need being fulfilled. but it is always a matter of personal choice. most wwill not consider it due to some degree of ignorance or personal religious belief. when people stop and really think about it, it doesn't seem as bad as some think.:-4 :-4 :-4 :-4

+++++++++++ That's a HUGE question, of course--does the "soul" even exist? (I'm sure you've got a thread about that here, somewhere.) Personally, I don't think it's an issue in the matter of cremation of the body. When I was a child, Catholics weren't allowed cremation because they believed in a true physical ressurection. Now, it's allowed, so I guess they've worked that out, somehow.
On a side note, I owned a sailboat for many years and was called on to help spread the ashes of FIVE friends/relatives on Santa Monica bay. We used to joke that we should paint the boat BLACK and install a small organ in the cockpit, to play appropriate music as we circled & scattered!

cremation is by fire, but just because some want it and some don't isn't really the major question. it is how much do you want to spend on someone who wants to be put into a hole in the ground. and yes, some who are cremated get the ashes buried, just like in a coffin but at 1/8 th the cost. besides when you are buried, almost all states require that you be filled with chemical preservatives, called embalming for those who don't know, and even restrict the viewing to embalmed bodies only. cremation, however eliminates any viewing problems, mainly because you are already ashes before any service, in many cases, though it may occur before the cremation. jews due to the holocaust, and less due to religious belief, reject cremation as a final action to be performed. many also are still believing the old belief of a resurrected phjysical body, but what about all the chemicals, body rot, physical damage from accidents etc. and if you have donated any organs, isn't that a form of resurrection, and an extension of life, both for and by you? I don't claim i know best, but i am going to make my own decisions regardless of what others say or believe. I am the one affected, not someone else. I have the right and responsibility to deal with these questions, not someone else. if i don't make the decisions in advance, just how much suffering will i add to those who, due to my lack of forsight, have to deal with these things at a time of truly great sorrow? can i be any less cruel than that by making some preperations in advance? :-4 :-4 :-4 :-4
