Here is my random vent of the day. There is a large group of children here at the library today..some sort of costume party. The children and adultys are very loud..as usual when there is a children's event. There always seems to be random conversations and distracting noises here.

BUT..the other day my husband called on my cell phone..we had a brief, and quiet conversation. I was then approached by a librarian to inform me that cell phone conversations were not allowed inside the library as they distracted the other patrons!! But loud screaming groups of kids are not distracting, it seems!! Conversations between adults, so long as they are both present are not distracting!! What gives here?:-5

My sister dragged (almost literally) along to have a massage a couple of years ago, Sunny. We had more or less just re-met each other and gone off to an island on the aussie Great Barrier Reef to have some time together. The massage was great. Very relaxing. I now try to do that regularly - found a drop dead gorgeous local masseur, name of Brian, who absolutely curls my toes. Go for it!!

(There's lots of kinds of massage. For my kind of active existence, a sports massage once a month is what I really like, now. That can sometimes be quite tough going at the time, but does wonders. )

Of course all other drivers are fuqqwits. If you really want to get your own back, roll down your windows and sing very very loudly - preferably something operatic or from the Beatles. Possibly with dramatic (but not obscene) hand gestures. Disregard this advice if you can sing well. The idea is just volume and enthusiasm. Add to this repertoire, practising flute embouchure exercises or just make wild and strange faces whenever stopped at traffic lights. Other drivers will begin to respect you!!! Guaranteed.

Grin. Well, Snoozie, I bet you have ginormous street cred at work. I used to do the same. Grin. Dancing a fandango in the corridors with an imaginary rose clenched in one's teeth just adds to the total exotic effect.

I had just finished one of the aforementioned fandangoes in the hallowed corridors of the medical research school at the Australian National University, when I realised I was face to face with the personal assistant of the Director. I blushed and said to her, I supposed I ought to show a little more dignity. She said 'Pam, dignity!! You don't know the meaning of the word!!'. Sad but true. And that lady is one of my best friends. Ah well .. some of us just don't got it. Probably you and me both, Snoozie.

BUT hey we got something else. We got LIFE !!!! Who needs bloody dignity!!!

fandango (făndăng`gō), ancient Spanish dance, probably of Moorish origin, that came into Europe in the 17th cent. It is in triple time and is danced by a single couple to the accompaniment of castanets, guitar, and songs sung by the dancers. At the end of certain measures, the music halts abruptly and the dancers remain rigid until it is resumed.Sources=Sources | 16 Skill level moderate. Nudity allowed, not required.

When I drive I am usually just above the speed limit..sometimes up to 5 miles per hour above. Then I have people behind me tailgating, even when there is room enough to go around me, and they are honking thier horns, and flashing thier lights..and offering me thier "single digit IQ score". Don't they realize that all of this behavior will not prompt me to politely let them by?

Butterflies, butterflies everywhere!

American Snout Butterflies are everywhere!

You’ve seen swarms of them dancing across the sky for days now — why?

Wildlife experts say the prolonged drought combined with a few days of rain in early July caused an explosion of millions of American Snout Butterflies in the area. It is believed that the draught killed many of the wasps and flies that often kill the butterflies in the caterpillar stage.

The butterflies pose no danger to people or plants and are expected to stay for a few more weeks before they migrate to a new area. These swarms are not uncommon, nor is this the worse case on record. According to butterfly expert W.H. Howe, in 1966 a group of migrating Snout butterflies literally blocked out the sun in Tucson, Arizona, forcing the city to turn on their streetlights in the middle of the day.

I once drove a 5 ton work truck daily for my work. It had no cruise control but one of the guys showed me how to use the throttle speed control for a cruise. Just yank it full out going down the road and it ran up against the governor. It was intended to make the engine run fast while you stood outside running the boom controls.

Yeah, JB. That's the one!!! In my case danced with an imaginary partner, imaginary castanets, imaginary rose clenched in me choppers.. but real boot stamping And the appropriate level of rigidity, of course. Grin.

What's this about you checkin up on me posts. I defined fuqqwit for you anyway. Grin. All other drivers!!! I believe plonker is the English translation - I just learned this word in another thread. (Previously I thought it might be another word for the plunger thingie you use to unblock dunnies um blocked by fuqqwits probably... Fuqqwit in this case means anybody except me - and you, of course.. grin. :-4

Uncle K - what can one say?? That's an oscene hour to be at the office, unless you passed out under your desk from the Friday night work drinkies party and have only just woken up ...

Okie - ya sweet talker you!!! Grin. The SouthWest certainly does seem to produce some hunky blokes!!! Must be the oil wells or maybe the consumption of armadillo kebabs. MMMMMMmmmm... Things in Texas really are big. I roped, threw and branded this here cow, and handed it to the good folks in Amarillo. It should make several 72oz steaks...
