Vegemite could possibly be used as an environmental poison in an area suspected to be held by the Taliban. Vegemite could possibly be used to strip varnish from old automobiles. Vegemite could possibly be the WORST substance ever put into a human mouth!

(Hmmm...let's see....does that cover it? I think so!) :lips:

I prefer the texture of Vegemite....and the bottle is straight sided so you don't waste so much......mind you....they do squeezy bottles for Marmite now !

Anyway ....it's ALL scrummy....just don't kiss anyone for 2 days after you've eaten it...:D :D

Diuretic wrote: It stinks, but it's a nice aroma. It's made from Brewer's Yeast which is why it has a distinctive scent to it. Wait a minute "scent" is too delicate a word I think, yes "stink" is better. It tastes a bit salty at first. But it has a nice tart taste, wakes up your taste buds. Actually it probably sends the little buggers nuts at first but you get used to it.

I know I keep repeating myself, but it IS scrummy. The secret is to use it sparingly.

My 9 month old grandson is being introduced to it on toast 'soldiers'...he loves it.

yeah something that has veggie in the title for us vegetarians.

Its funny you changed something a bit gave it a new name and sent it back to us....and some buy it.

Shame I dont like it really.....my son LOVES anything like that but use it sparingly??? he plasters it like cement .....yuck but it is said to stop gnats from biting you if you eat enough.(who said???? my mum :) )
Blessed be.

vegemite is almost an institution. Should it replace the union Jack on the Aussie flag?

:D I love the way that vegemite manages to inspire such amusing conversation. I personally LOVE the stuff. I don't believe in spreading it super thin, I like it thick. I like it so much that I scoop it out of the jar & lick it off the knife. It's very good on Wheat Thin crackers.

When I saw this topic, I knew that LuLu would be in here to give you HER opinion on the dreaded Vegemite!

Yes, Lips of the Lizard, I knew that eventually YOU (turncoat that you are) would arrive to sing the praises of this noxious substance!

This is the ONLY instance in which I've seen your judgement fail! :wah:

The first step, I believe, is admitting that you are powerless in the throes of the dreaded VEGEMITE!

And it doesn't ruin your breath for the entire day? Do you smear it on your wrist so you can smell it on your commute to work? Do you carry secret packets of it in your briefcase, so you can sneak into stairwells and get a fix?

And....just what is THIS packet in your sock? And....how about THIS one...in your wallet? And....what IS this stain on your collar?

Let me see your veins!

I'm like Marie...I'm wishing we could get it here. I've had to use poison to kill/repel some rats lately and I've worried about it. Vegemite could be a more "earth friendly" solution, I'm sure!
