Wake up to find out

that you are the eyes of the World

but the heart has its beaches

its homeland and thoughts of its own

Wake now, discover that you

are the song that the morning brings

but the heart has its seasons

its evenings and songs of its own :-6

How do I change?

If I feel depressed I will sing.

If I feel sad I will laugh.

If I feel ill I will double my labour.

If I feel fear I will plunge ahead.

If I feel inferior I will wear new garments.

If I feel uncertain I will raise my voice.

If I feel poverty I will think of wealth to come.

If I feel incompetent I will think of past success.

If I feel insignificant I will remember my goals.

Today I will be the master of my emotions.

I was at the grocery store this morning before work. Had a young lady (20's) approach me and asked if I had any money she could have..a dollar or two. Her sob story was that she needed to get back home to Buffalo and her car was out of gas...and she had no money. Apparently no AAA or credit cards either. Now who would embark on a 60 mile trip with no money?

Needless to say, I mentioned it to the store employees.

I had one lady pull up to the gas pump behind me and asked me for a couple of dallars for gas. I gave it to her and she walked up the the store and got ciggys and left. YOu just never know. I have givine money to some I know for sure were on the level and most I had to give to ease my mind. One guy I know had just left a buffet place and a man asked for money to eat with. He told him he had no cash but would gp pay for him to eat with a card and he said just never mind. I am sure he just wanted cash.

We actually have a guy that comes by the house from time to time. He actually drives over to the house and goes up to the door and ask us for money! I told him to get a paper route or something, this guy is about the same age as i am and appears to be in good health. I just don't understand.

We did have a homeless guy come up to us in D.C. and ask for $5 for a bottle of night Train. At least he was honest, my buddy gave him the five bucks.

A woman stopped me the other day to ask for a couple of dollars for a bus fare. Well, she could have been genuine and in need. She went straight into the nearby McDonalds. Grin.

I got stopped in Chicago once by a very fat lady who pushed her very fat kid towards me to ask for money, because they were starving. I gave the kid an orange. The mother swore at me. Grin.

This rather fetching and at least honest bloke in Union Square, San Francisco was good value for a dollar.

Heh.

I was walking through a city towards a railway station. A chap came up, and

asked for a small sum of money "to take the train to (nexttown) where he was

looking for work". I was naive, and gave him the money. He started walking off

in the opposite direction. "I say!", said I, pointing with my umbrella, "The station's

this way!". We walked all the way to the station, where I bought a ticket, and

boarded. He, I am certain sure, turned and went to the nearest pub., for a pint,

for I bet he'd built up a good thirst, due to the unaccustomed exercise. I only

realised a few minutes later.

Another day, or rather night, I was taking a train from the same station. I was

late, and not entirely steady, and also dressed reasonably smartly in a suit,

after a booze-up. I knew that the last train was about to leave, so I was running,

and hurtled into the station, banknote in hand, ready to buy the ticket. Skidding

to a stop on the glazed tiles, I found the ticket office closed! Oh, disaster! The

sliding metal gates (like old lift doors), to the platform were ajar, so I ran towards

them... a uniformed ticket inspector stopped me - gasping and wheezing from the

run, I told him I needed to get to the town of --th, waving my hand about and

gesticulating, still holding the money. "Oh!" he said, "you really need to have a

platform ticket, but it'll be OK this time...." Without thinking, I dashed past, and

the man made a despairing grab for the note I was holding.... again, I only

realised after a while, and was *very* embarrassed!

Night train!! I might have gave him money but would tell him to buy something better.

I ran into a man who was a friend of my daughters at one time. He was now homeless. I gave him a few bucks and he wanted to talk a bit. He kept drinking from a covered cup and when he took a drink it smelled like Listerine. I told my daughter later and she said he was likely drinking Listerine because its cheap and has high alchohol content. Of course he didnt tell me he wanted to buy booze. He said he was hungry and was going to get fried chicken.
