About 150 hostages feared dead and around 400 injured ending the three-day seige in by Chechen rebels in Russia.

It's on the BBC, too, and the Telegraph, etc. I feel very sad. Unfortunately,
unless the terrorists simply gave up, something like this happening was a
certainty.

I think this is going to be an ongoing trend and not just in Iraq and Russia. I see it happening around the globe. Who's Next? Do you get the Daily telegraph in the US. or is it an American T.

I sometimes look at the Daily Telegraph at: http://www.telegraph.co.uk - it's
easier to read on paper, though.
Yes, it may be a growing trend - I think the only way to deal with it is to say
that "if you take hostages, and harm them, we *will* kill you" - any sort of
negotiation makes hostage-taking more likely.

I remember the Iranian Embassy in London seige, The SAS sorted them out,and quick. Not pussy -footing. Go in & Get them.

The Moscow theatre incident.... lots of people killed there... very sad. When
there's a chance that taking hostages will succeed, I guess there'll always
be someone who thinks it's worth a go. Even with no chance of demands
being met, there's still the publicity....
