Don't mind a female president but I don't see it being Hillary.

For as many people who love Hillary there are just as many who hate her and I think her haters would be more galvanized to vote than her supporters.

And Capt you have to stop buying into the stereotype of the American male.

I even allow my wife to work out side the house. :wah:

I will NOT vote for Hillary, and if by some snowball's chance in hell she gets elected, I will pack up the family and move to Canada.

Ah yes, the "lesser of two evils" perspective. The operative word being "evil."

Condi, IMO, is the more evil of the two. I would love to see Hillary run and will gladly vote for her as would most of the women in my family, conservative Christians and liberals alike. I think she is brilliant and very capable and am not gonna be swayed by fundy and neocon bullshite propaganda about her.

Other than be the wife of a president before she became a Senator from New York, just what did Hilary Clinton do that qualifies her to run for the presidency. Her Book? Her failed Health Care proposals? Her law firm dealings?

Condi Rice has far more qualifications if you like a female candidate.

Condi Rice has far more qualifications if you like a female candidate. Her health care plan was blind sided by the right. All sorts of scare tactics were put into play about the prospect of all American having health coverage. I have seen speculation and accusation about her law firm dealings. If I remember correctly, a bilateral investigation could not find evidence of wrongdoing. I would prefer to see her run as VP on a ticket, but there is no way I would vote for Condi. I think Hillary is brilliant, has a firm grasp of law, could remain rational under pressure, but I honestly don't see her running under the presidential ticket in '08. Too soon, I think.

I totally opposed the war and the lies that sparked it. I don't agreee with the way Condi handled things, nor her political ideology.

Beth I enjoy discussion but don't like it when people dismiss dissenters. To me that means the talker is more exercising their prejudices than having a discussion.

It appears to me this is what you are doing, sorry if I misread your post but that is the way it looks to me.

The only problem I have with Hillary is I think she is a little to much a socialist than what I like. I know we need social programs and have no problem with them at all but I see Hillary as thinking Government is the answer to all ills and that is just something I am not comfortalble with.

I don't see how I am dismissing dissenters. The op asked opinion, I offered it. I have read that Hillary is evil, bad, and so on in this thread. I would like to know just why she is so bad. I have read propaganda about her and have not found much or very little evidence to substanciate claims against her. She is evil,...why? Because she visited a Shaman and prayed? Because there are claims she is a closet lesbian? Why is Hillary more evil than Condi Rice, when Condi Rice backed a war that has been shown to be illegal in international law and that was based upon lies, fear, and scare tactics?

I understand this, but if you read a book Clinton and Gore had written in the 90's you would see that they were socialist, as well. We have checks and balances set up that prevented Clinton to enact massive socialist programs.

I understand you not wanting government to be the answer as well, but currently in this country, the poor are getting poorer and the rich are getting richer. Something needs to be done to help with this wealth ratio disparity. Why are the rich getting higher tax breaks and the social programs for the poor getting cut? To me, that is just immoral. There is a need for some socialist programs for a compassionate government to operate.

Now here we have something to discuss. See her health care program is one of the main reasons I don't like Hilliary Clinton and surprise, surprise I think national health care is the only answer to our health care problems. Not that I am in love with the idea, I just see no alternative.

I think Hilliary's health care proposal was not defeated by the right I think her program was never intended to be passed. It was for consumption by the press for PR purposes only.

The former President and First Lady did one of the poorest jobs of presentation ever. If you want to do a job as massive as they proposed you get the AMA, some govenors, congresspeople, even people from the insurance companies on your side you don't just come up with a plan like they did and just drop it on the country and say here is vote it in. A very poor job of salemanship.

My problem with Her and Her husband is that they play for the press.

I don't see a lot of substanitive action from Hilliary.

I don't think they had any intention of getting there health care bill passed. They where just seeking to create an image for the public consumption.

I would not support her only because when I look at her past all I see is a very poor, unspectacular history of accomplishment.

I agree with a lot of what beth has said but please explain where Hillary Clinton has demonstrated her capablities at solving the problems touched on here. Not that the problems don't need to be addressed but if I were to vote for Hillary I would need to see where she has shown some hint of being able to create the consensus needed to solve the problems. Right now I don't see it.

You can hate President Bush all you want but the one thing you have to give the man is that he can get the allies he needs to get done what he wants to get done.

No matter how correct you are about different problems if you can't do this your not the right person for the job.

i find hillary to be just as dishonest as her dirtbag husband. no way. she was an enabler and the only way you would have dragged her out of the white house, even if bill sodomized the entire population of capitol hill , plus sheep, right under her nose, with video-tape, you would have had to pry her claw-like bloody grasping fingers from the curtains in the oval office to get her out of there. but don't let me give you the impression i'm not sure. :D

LC we think alike I agree, as the only reason she did not dump the DB was because of her " only known to her at the time" future political asperations. She did not even live in NY, She had to "move" there to then run for Senator! That was a major calculated, conniving "political" posturing maneuver on her part! :-5

hmmm...I don't know if I can agree, but thank you for this insight. I intend to comb through articles and info about this time. Perhaps I was misinformed, but consider, I was mildly politically involved with the Christian Right during this time and I was at odds with people on my side over the whole Hillary thing; I could not agree with them and the smear campains I saw them perpetuating. Although, I was briefly convinced by them until I decided to further dig into the substance of them. Maybe I could not see the whole perspective. Maybe I was also biased by what I had seen.

Anyway, interesting perspective.

And as far as her competancy goes, I have looked over her record as Senator and it appears that she is competant. Seems like she is very involved in social programs that aid children.

Excellent discussion Beth. I'm enjoying it.

My problem with Hillary's competence is the same one that prevented me from voting for Mr. Kerry.

Both have made many good points but in order to be a good leader your stands, in my opinion, have to lead to legislation.

Just being on the correct side of an arguement won't get a person my vote. They must have the ability to galvanize others to agree with them and get legislation passed.

We are, after all, talking about leading not just focusing attnention, although that is part of it, it is not enough to solicite my vote.

I use to like Rice but I have buyers remorse on this war. I was mislead on the whole wepons of mass destruction thing.

As for Hillary I've never been a Clinton fan but I think she would have done a better job then Bush. I liked several of the democrats running against him in the primary.

Bush has been a disapointment. I thought he would be better then he has been. Where as Bill Clinton actually did a better job then I thought he would.

A woman for the sake of running a woman will lose more votes that it makes. When that woman that is meant to be president comes along everyone will know it. I haven't seen her yet? My friends south of the border don't seem to know if they've seen her yet but they know she's on the horizon. It ought to be interesting. And not in the interesting times that Chinese equate with misery.

Just received this today!!! It says a lot!!! :guitarist

Gold Star Mothers is an organization made up of women whose sons were

killed in military combat during service in the United States armed forces.

Recently a delegation of New York State Gold Star Mothers made a trip to

Washington, DC, to discuss various concerns with their elected

representatives.

According to published reports, there was only one politician who

refused to meet with these ladies.

Can you guess which politician that might be?

Was it New York Senator Charles Schumer? Nope, he met with them.

Try again.

Do you know anyone serving in the Senate who has never showed anything

but contempt for our military?

Do you happen to know the name of any politician in Washington who's

husband once wrote of his loathing for the military? Now you're getting

warm! You got it!

None other than the Queen herself, Hillary Rotten Clinton. She refused

repeated requests to meet with the Gold Star Mothers.

Now, please don't tell me you're surprised. This woman wants to be

President of the United States --- and there is a huge percentage of Voters

who are eager to help her achieve that goal.

May you sleep in peace always...and please...hug or thank a Veteran for

that privilege.

Now Think about this one !!!

Don't forget, our girl, Hillary Rodham Clinton, as a New York Senator,

now comes under this fancy congressional Retirement and Staffing Plan.

It's common knowledge that, in order for her to establish NYS residency,

they purchased a million+ dollar house in upscale Chappaqua, NY.

Makes sense.

Now, they are entitled to Secret Service protection for life.

Still makes sense.

Here is where it becomes interesting. The mortgage payments hover at

about $10,000 per month. BUT, an extra residency had to be built within the

acreage in order to house the Secret Service agents.

The Clinton's now charge the Secret Service $10,000 monthly rent for the

use of said Secret Service residence and that rent is just about equal to

their mortgage payment, ......meaning that we, the tax payers, are paying

the Clinton's mortgage, their transportation, their safety and security,

their 12 man staff, and it's all perfectly legal.

Source of Info above: Sincerely, Cdr. Hamilton McWhorter USN (ret)

(Looks like Hillary sure knows how to wheel & Deal, at Taxpayers expense!!!)
