Scrat wrote: So? They need warm bodies to absorb the shrapnel and bullets flying around. I know you've done your time, so have I but YOU need to put your money where you mouth is and go do your duty for Uncle Sam.

For gods sake they're recruiting out of jail!!!!

It's for the war on terror and the good of America.

I don't quite understand. Do you think we should all go take turns? Every person over 18 go to war? I don't understand. You also seem really angry.

My father, my uncles and my Grandfather all served in the army. My brother wanted in, they would not take him, he has a crooked back.

I'm very proud of our vets and the men and women over there right now. I don't take anything for granted.

No, Scrat is casting aspersions on those of us who aren't there. But his chant, heard from Michael Moore and others, is tiresome. There are many reasons those who support their country in a time of war can't serve active duty. Not everyone should be over there. Personally, I would reup in a heart beat but I can't see, can't hear, and I'm too old. My brother, a couple of years older than me got in because he is a doctor, his specialty was needed. Yes, left his practice to serve in Iraq sewing up soldiers and Iraqi civilians. Scrats just blowing hot air. He doesn't even know what I think of this war outside of two or three posts he thinks he remembers. But that's all right.:-6

Why didn't you join up Scrat? Are you a coward? 80% of Americans don't ever join the military.. They are still aloud to believe in their country, and the mission of their soldiers.

You have called out several people who have served.. one for 21 years!! (No easy task.. give it try you liberal *****!)

What this is really about folks.. is the "Yellow Elephant."

Google it. It's a strategy, by the Democratic party to call every person with any level of patriotism a coward.. because somehow if you support our soldiers, but are not one, then you are some kind of a coward... nothing could be further from the truth of course, but this is the aim of the "Yellow Elephant" crowd.

I am not kidding.. Google it... you will see that this is an organized effort. It started with trying to block the voices of College Republicans, and has made it's way into the internet...

I was in the Navy too Scrat.. and as a master helmsman I pulled along side the USS Puget Sound (AD-38) many times.. she was a good ship. At sea replenishing was always an exciting time!

I have had port call at every place you mentioned.. although you misspelled every one of them!!

One thing.. as an ex Navy man.. I don't begrudge the easy duty of the Air Force. If I had wanted a 9-5 job, maybe that's what I would have done.. I didn't.. I wanted to go to sea!! See the world!! I know very few people who have traveled the way that you and I have.

I don't know why you have tied your skirt strings to this Yellow Elephant bandwagon. I don't hold it against any American because they chose not to serve.. it's all voluntary.. I would not want to stand watch relying on people who were forced to be there. The hippies can stay home.. I wouldn't want them on my ship!!

Bustin' your chops... LOL

I was coming about the time you were leaving. I joined in 1984, and served aboard the Mighty USS McCandless, FF-1084 as a Quartermaster. (For all you Air-Force, Army, Marine (best damn department of the Navy there is!!), A Quartermaster in the Navy has nothing to do with supply!!)

I was on the USS Orion (AS-18) based in La Maddalena from 1985-1988 Radiological Controls Division. I've also been to all those places Scrat mentioned. I had a buddy in the Air Force at the same time and he used to tease me unmercifully about how good he had it compared to Navy life. :wah:
