So my coffe pot sounds like the creature from the black lagoon and it takes about 9 hrs to brew. Ive tried cleaning it with vinegar to no avail. Ill break down and get a new one unless theres a tried and true cleaning method.

Vinegar's what we've always used. We're not supposed to have a problem now that we have a water softener, but the darn thing is acting up again.

Thats the thing you dont squeak with soft water you just glide. You squeak because you have minerals and soap residue left in your pores. Soft water does remove that. If youve been feeling heavy its because your filling up with iron ore.

8.7 is perfectly respectable. Stick to the cannibal threads for a higher score..

Have you tried just washing it out with soap and water? I've been reading, and it's ok to do this now. Just make sure you rinse it good.

Well you stated you only had done the water vinager method. And I know some coffee freaks think you shouldn't wash it with soap. So there...:p

Nomad, have you considered the possibility that your coffee pot is trying to communicate with you?

As an aside from long ago personal experience, you have to actually

physically RUB the inside of the coffee pot, all the cleaners tend to

stay on top of the actual grunge. A little toothbrush works well in

those hard-to-reach places, as well.

Sweet Pea, you should be able to handle this.

No jokes, please.

When I bartended, we would put soda, salt and ice in the pots and shake them around, then run them through the wash. It seemed to do the trick.
