Not knowing where you're from, I don't know what trees you have there, but the burls are a growth (or a bump) On a tree. So... If you're looking Into it, then it's the opposite. Is it a hole in a tree like an inverted burl? A knot hole? The orange color is throwing me a bit.

These things are, I'm sure, available worldwide, although they are only

native, as far as I know, to warm temperate zones. I can buy them in shops.

They are of a tree, but not a tree - no, not a knot, nor burlesque.

I had to look up "burl" on the 'net.
