I just thought of this

If it were not for BR having told family members about her family here at FG and email none of us would have known what happened.... I would like to say this

Gang give a family member a list of all your online connections so that if you do end up in the hospital someone can look after informing your dear friends online.

Stress to your family how important it is that someone get in touch with your online friends.

Funny you should mention that, Minks. I was just thinking yesterday to tell Rick to come here and do that should anything happen to me. This is actually the only online community I would want him to notify.

Good thinking

I just sent my info off to my eldest letting her know my details.

Clancy wrote: Well said.

I don't know if I mentioned this already, but during the ten day period I was off-line, Snooze asked, Arnold if he would give me a bell (phone) just to make sure I was ok. So I've spoke to Arnold on the blower (another word for phone)

During the changeover to broadband, I was having a few probs, with the router (I'm almost comp illiterate) So I asked my daughter to e-mail, Snooze to let her know. Lorraine had the fore sight to make the e-mail header. "Snooze this is Clancy's daughter" It's important to do this for obvious reasons, as everyone (should) delete e-mails from unknown, or unfamiliar senders.

....for those who haven't met, or heard, Arnold, he sounds nothing like, Hugh Grant.....more like one of the London "Firm" I on the other hand, sound nothing like, Ewan McGregor....I'm a cross between, Shrek, & Rab C Nesbitt. :)

yes good point indeed, make someone in FG a designated "buddy" they could spread the word once a family member contacted them.

Brilliant you guys, have your real life liason and perhaps someone on here that could act as a go between much like Floppy and Carla have done for us with BR. We are a good family like group this would be invaluable.

I said something to my mother and she just rolled her eyes at me. She said this was a bunch of nonsense and to be careful because I would end up being robbed blind (????)

So I have to get someone else to take care of this. I bet my sister would do it.

OK...I just put Zapata and Rain on my "next of kin" list...which lives with my brother-in-law! Did I ask them first? Ummmm....no! :)

I'll be happy to be a "contact point" for them, too...or anyone else. Its a good idea and a way for everyone to turn a tiny bit of a "negative" into a "positive."

Thanks, Minksie!

yes leave it up to someone who understands the importance of the online family. My ex would never have considered contacting anyone online ... cretin.

I think Rick gets it..to a point. Some of you may remember a couple of months back when an online friend of mine from another forum was very ill and then passed away. He was not surprised at all that I was sending her greeting cards..and sent one to her daughter after she died.

Yes Pinky..she lived over on your side of the pond, so it was not like I could have just run out to see her in a day trip or anything. But she was still a friend.

This is true for me too! I chat here far more often than I chat to my RL friends!

I also have greater scope here as my RL friends chat about home and family and work and daily life not world affairs or funny stuff, etc.

My other half would post here for me, but if something happened to us both I don't know who would let you know!
