After seven years of long hard fighting my son has finally been diagnosed with Aspergers, this means he is at the high achieving end of the Autistic Spectrum.

I don't know whether to dance a happy dance or cry, it's such a relief, fingers crossed he will now get all the help he deserves and needs. :-6

OH, Betty! (((HUGS))) I've a friend whose son has this condition and I know something about your frustration and worries! The good news is...he's been diagnosed and now you know where to begin.

Oh, what a good mom you are, Betty. You finally have him diagnosed, and he should receive special services in his education.

A guy here at Kim's office has Asperger's. He leads a productive life, works, drives, lives on his own.

Betty, like everyone says, at least you know for sure now and can get him extra help based on his needs. My son has dyslexic and dyspraxic tendencies and so sometimes he gets extra help and sometimes he doesn't and no one seems to be sure whether he should be having help or not. It's maddening!

If you can get him statemented at school he'll have one-to-one help, which will help him a lot. Hugs to both of you. :yh_hugs :yh_hugs :yh_flower

Thanks everybody! :-4

Yes Rapunzel he is statemented at school, he currently gets 30 hours one to one at school, something else I fought for over the last seven years. We looked into Dyspraxia years ago too. It's very difficult to get people to listen to you but I must say Michaels primary school have been fantastic.

I won't pretend to know the details of the illness or the frustrations and battles with 'officialdom'. But if you're happy, then that's a good thing.

I wish your son the very best of luck and fortune for his life ahead. Well done, Betty.:-6

Im happy for you Betty. Your a good mom. It is evident that your son is exceptionaly intelligent. His eyes also mirror a very warm soul. Im confident that with special instruction and care, he will be a high achiever, and a success in his life.

A diagnosis is half the battle. Chin up gal, least you have this behind you now and know which direction to move :)
