Fever Blisters and Cold Sores

Ah, I have gotten a terrible case of fever blisters on my lip. And I have a virus the nurse says. So she gave me pills to kill the virus. But I look awful. I am walking around with this awful looking thing on my bottom lip. And I have a cold sore inside my mouth. That hurts like hell. And I hear that going in the sun makes it worse, so I can't go swimming for a while.

I'm pretty lucky in that department; I've never had a fever blister or cold sore in my life.

That's not to say I don't have other problems

I find that a little dab of vaseline works great for not letting them get big or painfull....hope you're better soon though....:-6

Try some bonjella (the stuff you use when kids are cutting their teeth ) for the mouth ulcer and try not to share any cups while you've got the cold sore so as not to pass it on - hope you get better soon .

That virus will never leave your body. As soon as you feel another blister coming up take Valtrex. It'll knock em right out before they even start. My mom sent me some for my cold sore I get in the same place every 18 months.

I was always told you get them when your feeling low or under the weather - not sure if its true .

I think mine usually come on from stress. It seems they always pop up right before a friend's babyshower...HEY, maybe youre right!

The nurse did tell me to get some Abreva. I've stayed home from work yesterday. But today went back.

And yeah, I do think that they come about when one is feeling low. I can remember feeling really down and tired about 2 days before this all came out on my face and mouth. And the nurse said it is a virus, I was sick for a day or 2 last week. The pills they gave me are called Ciclovir. She said they are for genital herpes, but I don't have those. The ones I have are a different strain.
