the journal area is intended to be one's own sacrosanct space. i used mine to blather a fair bit of silly crap about my relationship with g-d quite a long time ago. i'd have felt more constrained had others been able to comment; in that instance, perhaps having adults speaking up would have been salutory. nevertheless, there you have it. the shortcoming is that the forum software gives a bogus reason for the inability to post replies.

Right. What I was worried about was not necessarily being unable to comment, but whether something happened to my subscription.

Hmm, on the other hand, it seems pretty pointless to post something that no one may reply to. If no one is allowed to react, then what's the point of posting it online for others to view? You could just write it in a Word file on your own computer ...

Some writers seem to use the journals as a personal diary blog.

I'm very much reminded in the case of other journals of what we call in Australian parliamentary speak a "Personal Explanation"

a short statement made in Parliament by a Senator or Member concerning a matter with which he or she is personally connected, or by a Senator or Member who feels he or she has been misrepresented and who wishes to state the correct facts or situation

A personal explanation may not be debated.

Grin.

I think the reason why I was itching to comment was Jives' equating Humanists with those who think that everyone should pass, regardless of ability. It got my blood boiling to see such utter ignorance

Yes..what Chonsi said. Or you can PM the person. I have a journal here, for which I have made a few entires. Have gotten some nice PMs in response. But my journal does not really contain info from me or about me that I have not already shared in areas where I can be responed to publicly.

Of course, as others will tell you, I am one of the least controversial people here. :wah:

Giggle. Okay Marie.. pity though.. . I was looking forward to a spot of maybe jelly wrestling... and then if we got controversial, maybe we could get all the new potential moderators to come rampaging in and we'd end up in the sin bin. I've never actually been behind bars - just think of the street cred!!!!! The new blues songs I could write... Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison would have nothing on me new burgeoning musical felicity.
