The New England School of Law was originally known as the Portia Law School when it was established in 1908 as a women only law school and was known by that name until 1969. On Rumpole of the Bailey, Rumpole called Phillida Erskine-Brown (née Trant) the "Portia of our Chambers".

I know a lot of folk come in here, post a few times and then vamoose (in Nomie's case, post a lot and then vamoose ... sigh) - but I thought Portia might stick around.

Anyone seen her?

I haven't seen her recently but I've thought about her on occasion. The Jamaican Prime Minister's a Portia, perhaps they're the same and she's tied up a lot at the moment.

Hi Portia, welcome to FG. I've been a little lax at welcoming people the past few weeks as I've had trouble typing. But I'm in fine fettle now. Hope you have a great time here.

Yeah Portia what's up with that? You come in here & say hi, & we all welcome you, and then you dissapear! Is it maybe you don't like us!

But then, after thinking about it, hope that you're OK! :-2

If you are OK, post away! :)

Perhaps she just needs a lil' space... or else she's like I was when I first joined... joined up, posted a few posts then took a sabbatical... returned then took a looooooong vacation, then returned once again stronger than ever? Anyway, welcome to FG, Portia! :D

Well that's the major reason my posting slacks... then again I'm usually at the office or at the home office working and posting... :D

Well it's good to see that some of our more "needy" members didn't scare ya' off... :wah:

It's GREAT to see you Portia !!!!!! I was getting worried that the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune had overwhelmed you, that we'd scared you off even without Nomad's valuable assistance, that you'd been eaten by Leonard, that you'd run off with UncleKram who I saw first or just generally got led astray by werewolves and were pining in some faraway thread somewhere in the cavernous underbelly of Forum Garden. HIC. Or were the strange sounds coming out of the piano in Bothwells Pub really you, trying to signal that you were locked in???? ... what was the question? Oh yes, welcome back!!! Hic.. I brought you a cold tinnie!!! It got a bit dented when I short of shlipped hic climbing back in the window.. giggle
