Hi DG....this is really hopeful news. I'm keeping everything crossed for you. Funnily enough the guy I work with in his mid thirties told me that his partner is pregnant.

He has 3 kids by his first marriage (his wife is a bit of a nutter although she has re-married and has 2 more children) ...anyway, his partner is a teacher, a lovely lady, but because he has had a vasectomy they have had to go down the IVF route...I think they have had several disappointments and it has cost twenty thousand pounds so far.....I can tell you that they have sacrificed so much for this babe....but you know the score here DG.

Thats good the easy one it should only take about 15 mins you just have to lay very still its more undignified than painful ive had both and the Lapo is where they insert the camera .Hey if the clomid works we might just have 2/3 little DGs running around. My fingers are crossed for you honey.

Hubbie and I went to see the specialist yesterday! FINALLY! She was so great! Someone to finally listen!

She started me on 2 medications (Metformin and Clomid) to get me ovulating. I have to call her when my next cycle starts and she will have me come in on a certain day after that and do an ultrasound to see if I am about to ovulate. Then she will do an HSG test (which checks for blockage by insterting dye into your plumbing). If everything is fine we'll continue with the medication until I'm pregnant. It took my cousin 4 months to get pregnant on these drugs but she only took the metformin not the clomid because she didnt want to chance multiples. So, cross your fingers. If this doesnt work we will move on to ANOTHER semen analysis then artificial insemination. After that we are looking at starting IVF. Hopefully the pills will work because I also found out yesterday our insurance covers NOTHING!!!

Have a great weekend everyone!

DesignerGal wrote: Guess what guys? I am being tested for PCOS on Tuesday. This will be a big help in determining what the problem is! I have all of the outward symptoms, so Im hoping this will be the answer and then we can start down an avenue we actually need to be on.

I'll keep everyone posted, I guess.

My cousin (who just found out she was pregnant) was diagnosed with this. They put her on meds that are meant for diabetics. Insulin is a primary cause of PCOS inhibiting fertility, so this should help me get pregnant AND lose some of this weight I have gained. It helped her lose weight AND get pregnant!

Wish me luck!! Hopefully I will be pregnant by the end of the year!

Apparently Im more unobservant than oh I dont know.....everyone else ?

Sorry just saw this. I wish the best for you.

OPK means Ovulation Predictor KIt. When there is an LH surge detected on it that means you should ovulate in the next 24-36 hours. I am already on CD 19 and no surge has been detected yet! I either missed it or I am not ovulating! I have an ultrasound in three weeks so they will check for it. This is so frustrating! IM staying calm, but this is a lot of work! Its not sex anymore, its homework!:)

Oh, and CD means "cycle day". Most women ovulate on CD 14.:-1

Right now anywhere from 30-40 days. Usually about 35-36. Im still staying optimistic. I dont think I have reached "o" yet.

Im going in on CD 3 to check follicles and again on CD6-12 for HSG (to check for blockages) then again on CD 14 to check follicles again. If I get Aunt Flow this month, I will do an IUI (insemination) cycle in late May/early June. Im nervous!!

Right now I am on CD 19. Are you thinking what Im thinking Pants? That I havent o'ed yet?

Yes honey my cycle is 36 day's some time's if i'm really stressed as long as 42 days so i think you have to add a couple of more day's to day 14... you may ove on day 16/17 /18 try taking your temprature ive heard that can work . Are you taking your folic acid . Also keep date's of any discharge it may have a connection i think you need to really know how your body work's and i've heard that Zinc help's a woman's libido...i also used to get little pain's when i was ovulating more of a sensation than pain. Are hubs tadpole's little :yh_star's...there are so many thing's to think of it take's the fun out of trying ... my finger's are crossed for you let us know how the tube

I peed on the OPK last night and it picked up a surge! So I should ovulate Today or tomorrow! I waited up for Hubby last night. He has been checked. Although, the RE said if we dont get pregnant on CLomid she might take him of Propecia because that lowers the testosterone in his testes. I am taking folic acid, clomid, and metformin. I did notice the "watery discharge". It started the night before last so I think I am on track.. It looks like I ovulate at CD19/22. Anyway, hopefully I will get a big fat positive in three weeks! Thanks for your help!

Cycle was a bust. I went in today for my CD 3 ultrasound and she found a monstrous cyst on my right ovary from the Clomid. They are taking me off of it because my body isnt responding. The cyst should go away by my my next menstrual cycle. However, drugs arent working so we are going STRAIGHT to IUI cycles next month. My shot day will be on or about June 29 and by June 30-July1 hopefully it will take. This is sucky news but not hopeless...just thought I would share, or rant really! UGGGHHH! Hopefully I willl come back in mid-July to say I am having a baby. No Clancy and Nomad, it wont be yours! LOL!

IM going to update this...just because...

Hubby and I had surgery to remove a cyst in June and started our first IUI round in August. I had to recover from the surgery.

Our first IUI round was August 1st, and you can see as there is no announcement it didnt take. So at my very next cycle, August 18th, we went in to start monitoring for another IUI round. I have a cyst that came back just as large as the last and in the same place. We now had to put off our next IUI round to see if it goes down (the cyst). I should know something by September 14/15. I should know if it has gone down or hasnt. If it has we will do another IUI round on or about September 30th. If it hasnt, we will schedule ANOTHER surgery to remove the cyst and start IUI 4 weeks AFTER that! UGH! This is frustrating...on a more positive note, I have a FARFETCHED/LONG SHOT of a possibility. Someone that Hubbie knows is pregnant and MIGHT, big MIGHT, be interested in adoption so we MIGHT be able to go that route. She is 6 months. We have a meeting with the agency that will handle the hoemstudy on October 3rd. Cher has been helping me ALOT with this and I wanted to give her and her hubbie a shout out.

So thats it. Just thought I would bump for anyone interested in what we are doing at the moment. This forum is a release for me right now because this has totally taken over my life right now. Thanks for listening.

Do they have any idea what's causing the cysts?

Yes. I have Polcystic Ovarian Syndrome. Also, anytime you stimulate the ovaries with fertility drugs, cysts can develop. Its normal, sorry. Didnt mean to alarm. They just wont do the IUI procedure if they are present. They could cause the ovary not to produce healthy eggs at all so it would be a waste of all that money and time.

In addition...we move from the oral drugs to the injectables after this next time which is a $1550 price increase but the odds are worth it I guess! Im going to start a bake sale for this! Just kidding! we will do 2 times oral IUI, 2 times injectable IUI and then move to IVF.

When I worked for a nutritionist years ago, we saw many women with PCOS who had trouble maintaining their weight with the affliction. It seemed to play havoc with their weight management.

I hope you haven't had that problem. :-6

I do have a weight problem. Im not obese yet, but My doctor has me on the south beach diet. It stems from an insulin resistance problem so we really shoudlnt eat carbs, plus they have me on this diabetic drug (metformin) that tears up my insides if I eat sugar and carbs!

Right -- I remember, it *is* an insulin problem. You are very well-informed.

Hey, have you tried the South Beach bars -- the ones that are 210-220 calories each?

I love 'em! They come in a bunch of varieties and they are high in protein (19 grams per bar). :-6

Sorry, I had forgotten the root cause.

My middle daughter started straight off with the IVF and said that the needles were the worst part (the drugs were uncomfortable but the needles hurt).

It failed to take the first two attempts but they found she'd conceved when they went to take the eggs the third time round - she now has two beautiful boys.

It *will* work for you - I have every faith.
