The easiest thing to do is to quit smoking.
The hardest thing to do is to stay quit!

Yes, it is easy to quit. I have stopped on Christmas Eve. 2004. I've had a few tough moments where i smoked. Quitting can be done, i have problems with drinks or wine, thats when i want to smoke. Otherwise i do not need cigarettes. I can have coffee and not need smoke. I can go for 2-6 weeks without a butt, its just once in awhile i have one. I will continue to stop for good, as long as it takes....you can feel the difference.
Everyone has these on their face? TULIPS.

Been weed free for 12 years now. O how I tried to quit, dozens of times. I could never get past 48 hours. I tried Group Therapy, Hypnosis, nothing seemed to work. I was so bad off I would look in the ashtray of the car for a smokable butt, even looked in the gutter a few times. I would crawl on my hands and knees over broken beer bottles at 3 in the morning to find a 7-11 and get my Viceroy fix. FINALLY----had to go in to the hospital for a surgical procedure that kept me in the hospital for 5 days. That was all I needed.
I still like the smell of second hand smoke though.

That is an excellent point that you make. I remember writing something once about there is a need for hospitals to take in patients(sanitariums, clinics etc.) and keep them away from tobacco through whatever means necessary. Doped up and out of it until the body has the nicotine craving extinguished. It is at a minimum of 72 hours for the symptons to be over come. Guess I'll find out why not now.

I really wanted to quit for different reasons than my health, after all, I rationalized that my mom and dad lived in good health into their 90's and smoked all the way. I figured I had genes that precluded me dying early from smoking. I wanted to quit primarily because it was the one thing I had no control over, and I like to be in control. Smoking really bugged me for that reason.

Ahhh.. quitting the nicotine monkey.. It took me 6 attempts before I finally threw that bad boy away. and that was ummmm.. like 6 years ago, but once in a while I smell a smoke and it is like ummmmmm yum.. that smells good.. I smoked for over 20 years. It is really will power and saying that you are not gonna do it anymore. I weaned myself down to the point where I was smoking maybe 3 cigarettes a day.. then finally said enuff. but that first 2-3 months was murder.. but feel much better now.. breath is returning slowly.. endurance is better.. not anywhere near what it should be but better.. food tastes better.. etc..
Soooo.. keep trying.. never give up. Find something that works for you.. just remember you are trying to give up a drug that is as addictive as heroin.. or cocaine.. or coffee for that matter.. but you are the only one that can make the decision to quit.. btw. .I am not one of those ranting ex smokers.. if you like smoking .. go ahead.. not my body..
okay.. nuff said..
good luck to anyone trying to dump the monkey..
if ya need support drop me aline..

I tried many times to give up but failed, it only worked when it started to impact on my health!........I started getting pains in my chest as I did a lot of exercise, it was a few weeks from the new year so I made a point of quitting then, just so I could psyche myself up for it,............what was different this time was that I new I would not start smoking again! I liked a few beers as well so I gave that up long enough for the nicotine craving to stop torturing me, I think if I had stayed in the pubs it would have chipped away at my resolve, and now that I new it was there I was not going to waste the opportunity!.............what got me was the dreams! if I could not have a ciggy in my waking state, then as sure as hell I'd be off smoking one a foot long in dreamland! lol!...........when I woke up I was not sure if I did smoke it either, wierd!!
