LITTLE KIDS THEIR TOYS

Is it just me that notices this? I can't believe the variety and number of toys that 2 to 6 year old children have to play with. They seem to flit from one to the other not really focused on any one particular toy. I remember this past Xmas, the small ones just tearing into one present after another and tossing them aside to see what was in the next package. I'm no Child Psychologist, but something tells me that this just ain't too smart. With all that mental stimulation and excitement, no wonder so many kids have ADD.

hehehe you make me laugh Lon, that is just a natural thing for kids when over stimulated. They really can't concentrate, they are just on a frenzied path to touch them all.

Add is not caused it is an acutal imbalance hehehehe

I think the young ones display something very typical and natural for that age

One year my dad a farmer had a good year so he bought bunches and bunches of toys for me and my 3 sibblings.

I'm 8 years older then them and guess what they ended up playing with!!!!

The BOXES all the surpluss toys came!!!!!!

It isn't the attention span that was bothering me as much as the number of toys these kids have. 20 times the number of toys my kids had at that age, despite the fact that I could afford to buy more toys. It just seems like overkill to me. But then again, the parents have lots of toys as well, don't they?

The kids not only have a lot of toys they have their parents toys to play with also.

There is a whole lot of ideation that occurs with each toy. The more toys the more varied the ideas are for each specific toy.

IMHO, all these mountains of toys do nothing but make kids less appreciative of what they DO have. Give 'em everything they want, and how do they learn to value anything? We are raising a generation of materialistic, toy-mongering, monsters. I'm guilty too! I won't even get into how you can't get kids to play outside anymore. All the "stuff" just exacerbates that situation.

Also loads of toys these days could signify .... parents buying the kids love. In a rough term so to speak.

Parents who are so busy that they feel they need to show their children the love them by buying magnanumous amounts of toys to compensate for quality time or quantity time.

Lets face it, this happens more than we may want to acknowledge.

Yes Lon I agree it is disturbing to watch a kid sit amongst a mountain of toys, and touch a fewl ignore a few, and then run off to poke a stick in the dirt. But hey that is kids. In the long run you would see them play with the toys, just all at once I think they suffer sensory overload.

It would be much like if you were dumped into a dumpster of cash hehehehe you would have temporary ADHD at first ahahahahaha

What happened to the pots and pans, and the Lincoln Logs, erector sets.

The imagination of the child and the more they use it on their own is so much more important. It is sadly lacking in this modern day of electronic gadgets, many are great but the child needs to use their own thinking more.

Ohhh my fave toys. I loved the Mechano set my cousin had when we were growing up, then I graduated to Lego. We had board games that were simple fun, like mouse trap, sorry etc. As a real young child I loved building blocks and one of my fave toys was the big old box the new fridge came in. We took it out in the back yard and made the best house out of it. You bet, toys that spark imagination are the best. Beats nintendo and PSII any day.

Lon my 8 years old grand-daughter has so many toys that her room is actually just a path through the room. You have to watch for landslides
