may sound stupid but I have to practice saying "whilst" before I get to England. It's popular there, if you haven't noticed.

Whilst enjoying sounding proper, it does sometimes offend my sensibilities.

eta: should that be "doth"?

i would think it was just silly if an english person came here and tried to use american phrases.

Leave out the "does" and fiddle around with the rest of it a little.

thanks for the feedback. I got the mp3 conversion tool because other sound files keep messing up.

Finding an application on this damned machine that would play a wav file in the first place.

I *will* get used to it - too long using RiscOs at home and NT at work to jump into Linux without climbing a lerning curve.

Linux scares me.

Don't know about mac but in window when you open something it generally chooses the program for you. but asks permission sometimes.

The application it defaulted to didn't like the file. I had to save it to disk and then try several possible applications before I found one that worked.
