Has anyone seen this movie Transamerica? It is Terry Thatcher( desperate house wives) A woman, playing a man, who wants to be a woman.
She does a great job. But more than that. Gender identity is a field of study that has been given a lot of attention recently. ( As it should be) It is a legitimate physiological malfuntion between brain development and genital development. The condition is so mis understood by society and those living with this miswired system suffer greatly. I admired the main character, and I loved the way she interacted with her long lost son who she gave up at birth. He came back into her life at the age of 18, on the eve of her scheduleded gender surgery.

The star is actually Felicity Huffman, another Desperate Housewife. The movie got terrific reviews and earned Ms. Huffman an Oscar nomination.
It's on my "To See" list. Thanks for your input! :-6

Felicity was robbed of an Oscar, in my opinion. I enjoyed this film so much I've seen it twice.

Right... oops I get the names mixed up. There was another movie dealing with the same subject on lifetime a couple of months ago with Mercedes Rule??? Not sure if that name is correct either. But oh my God it ripped my heart out. It was about a little boy who really was girl. All homophobics should be forced to watch it.

Yes, Reese plays a southern girl. No big leap THERE! Felicity plays a man in transition to becoming a woman who faces her uphill struggle with humor and ultimately, a loving heart.
Ah...but Reese SANG!
And Johnny Cash had just died. And transgendered people are still a bit "outre," aren't they?
