Guys in mediaeval type costume get me in way too much trouble, but that's another story:lips:

No no, tell us about your daliances with "guys in medieval costume", pray where do you meet such fellows m'lady, at the local joust?

Seeing as your drooling out of blokes from Lord of The Rings, what about whats her name, the Horse Woman who fancied Aragorn, she was miles better than that Mrs Elf Queen, what was wrong with the man? JRR Tolkien knew a lot aout writing great Fantasy epics but he didn't know much about women. Scenario: Woman likes me whose dad owns a million horses, has her own brewery somewhere in her wooden castle and is liberal in giving it out, and can swing an axe like no-bodies business, that'll do me, see ya later Elfie.

Pinky wrote: Ugh, you think the pasty blonde was better than Arwen?Man, you need your eyes checked! She wa such a sappy cow!

I meet guys in mediaeval costume at the mediaeval association that I'm involved with. Not say any more than that!:D

Nah, that arwen was too intense, all that lying about like Lord Byron in Greece, at least the "sappy cow" made yer man some soup once. She did also hit the Wraith King fella a good belt of a sword. And that whole giving up immortality for love, way too much commitment. I would have said, look love, your a great girl, but you'd be better off going into the undying west in a swan boat with your dad. And even if she was a sappy cow, what about all the horses and the castle, thats called marrying up where I'm from.

Now I'm not a huge Blonde hair man, though I don't dislike blonde girls either, I'm more a redhead type, but Horse Lady did it for me, and yes there is no accounting for taste, but different strokes Pinky. Eowyn, that was her name wasn't it? Though I admit, they did kinda run a horse and coaches through the book with her character and arwen's come to think of it, but a film's different init? Now that we are discussing it, I must admit that ladies in medival costume can be quite appealing I suppose, the elizabethan wench look is always good, well better than baggy sweat pants and a boob tube anyway.

So, not prying or anything, but this medieval association, what do ye do in it?, visit sites, re-enact battles, have banquets, look for the holy grail, rough up peasants? I could see why it might be fun!

We travel around to different locations, oftn historical sites that are off limits to the public and set up camp, make stuff, get plastered, shoot some arrows, whack each other with swordsand live rough for a few days! educating the public is just something that kind of happens along the way:o

I think that its important to keep as much swordfighting, arrow shooting, castle siegeing, and all round general mayhem in education as possible. It would be very useful to teach a teenager about what was more useful in olden days a Sony PSP or a Roman style sword by hitting them with both and getting them to write an essay (with a goosequill and their own blood) on their thoughts afterwards.

The society of creative anachronism, I like that, its monty pythonesque. I think it would be a great idea for people in the British Isles to educate foreign tourists in their olden ways be re-enacting viking raids and making the tourists give battle to native populations. They can have long boats and double-headed axes, we can have druids, witches, kilts, broadswords, and long bows. If they win, they can sleep with the local women and rob the church, if we win, we can drink beer out of their empty skulls and keep the traveller's cheques, either way everyone is happy.

Galbally - what a totally terrific idea. I shall be on both sides. A kilted woaded-up witch in a longboat . I'll have me golden sickle and trusty longbow with me. I salivate at the thought of sacking monasteries and am all a-tremble with lust at the thought of getting up close and personal with the local women. I will max out everyone's goldcards and singlehandedly drink beer till I'm the heck out of my own skull.

You would make a formidable warrior aussie pam, I shall await you on the shoreline with my claymore in hand and the sun rising in the east. I am also impressed with your versatile and pragmatic attitude on deflowering the local women, you are an example to us all.

(Have I ever mentioned that I've got the million disc set of the Lord of the Rings? I'm such a geek):o

Snooze, just spotted this thread! Geeks of the world unite - I have all the extended versions, I just love them so much. Plus I bought a copy of the ring and the evenstar pendant. Total saddo!:wah:

I will admit that Sean Bean does tormented very well but Viggo floats my boat every time. What more could a girl want? Tall, dark, handsome and brooding plus very adept at handling his weapon!! I have surrounded myself with him at work to keep my spirits up (well two pics)

Galbally, I can see why you'd prefer Eowyn but don't you think she's a bit fickle? One minute she loves Aragorn the next she's off with Faramir.

I reckon Dr G would forgive Eowyn her fickleness as he's nice like that. I still think she's wet though.
