is going to be executed oct. 25. he butchered 5 college kids in gainesville florida. cut one girl's head off and placed it on a bookshelf. he is the best argument for the death penalty i have ever seen. it's just unfortunate he will merely be put to sleep. i hope he is sweating bullets. he lived in the woods and killed at night. just kids. may he burn in hell forever. and his 'girlfriend' sondra london, should go with him. she pretended to 'love' him so she could write a book and profit from the murders of those children. he actually sang some lame song to her in open court. it was nauseating.

Earthly power doth then show likest God's when mercy seasons justice. Therefore, Jew, though justice be thy plea, consider this, that, in the course of justice, none of us should see salvation: we do pray for mercy; and that same prayer doth teach us all to render the deeds of mercy. I have spoke thus much to mitigate the justice of thy plea.

How could I have not known about this? I dont know if Im glad I didnt, or if I should feel uninformed. When did he do this? I have always tried to come up with a definitive way I feel about the death penalty. I believe it isnt right to take anyones life. But to have these monsters free walking the earth to kill children, is not acceptable. And I am beginning to realize that there are ( for whatever reason) multitudes of monsters walking among us. And so, yes I have to say.. he must die. If I were to discover the details of his killing these young people, and I came face to face with him, I believe I could kill him myself. I only have to think of the parents... of the pain they will feel for the remainder of their lives, and I get physically ill.

Hiya Portia :)

I couldn't agree with you more about this 'beast'. I don't care when people tell me "it's an eye for an eye and it's just WRONG!!"!

He doesn't deserve the privilege of life.

yes Weeder, i am so sad for those parents. their children were slaughtered. and this animal will simply be put to sleep. imagine. as i do. the kids were going to bed and this bastard broke into their homes and raped and cut them to pieces. it terrorized the town of gainesville, many parents took their kids out of college.

I just read about this monster. I make no mistake... He was created. As much as I despise the concept.. the looming reality that the government is slowly taking controll of our lives.. I wish for the sterilization of humans who do not have the basic intelligence, morals, or conscience to bring children into this world. In my humble opinion the mother of the monster should be executed with the son. She is more guilty than the abusive father of Danny Rolling, for not stopping the abuse. In a twisted way... reading the details of his upbringing reaffirmed the decision I made years ago to divorce the father of my two sons. Not that he was anything like Rollings dad.. However he was an unfit husband and father and so he had to go. Period. The finale of the actions in Danny Rollings life could lead to the subject of showing less sympathy for women who chose to continue living with abusers.. To saying" Honey, grow some balls.. do what you have to do and get out. Moddyly coddling Bull***t. Other peoples children pay the price for the actions or inactions of wimps.

I forgot about Danny Rolling. I assumed he was already dead. I was living 100 miles away when he slaughtered these young students. I followed the trial and I read the book. Hes simply not what most of us would consider human. His mind bends in a way that makes it impossible to comprehend.

We all need mercy. However, some of us, for the good of all, need to be removed from the planet.

I am glad you hold the view you do. If not for you and others like you, the rest of us would practice what we believe in excess.

I currently attend the University of Florida, and I joined this forum simply to comment on Danny Rolling. While I wasnt around at the time of the Rolling murders, I can say that everyone in this town still remembers it. Its not something that goes away. You can still see signs of it everywhere. The complexes where he killed those students are now abandoned. There are memorials painted on walls to the victim's in various locations. A small college town like Gainesville wont ever forget the summer of 1990.

I dont see how Danny Rolling is still alive really. He admitted to killing 5 kids in the most brutal fashion imaginable. I dont know if any of you know what a Ka-Bar knife is, but it isnt pretty. USMC issued, and designed for a single purpose. And that is to kill. I am confused as to the basis of his appeals. There was no trial, so no trial error. Yet here we are 12 years after the conviction and still he breathes, a right his victims can't enjoy.

"I deserve to die. But do I want to? No. Life is hard to give up"

-Danny Rolling

The above quote is proof in itself that Danny Rolling is something other than human. How can one person slay 5 and say life is hard to give up? Apparently, for this monster life was very easy to take away.

That scumspit will rightfully die Wednesday and he should be thankful someone didnt stab him 31 times with a Ka-Bar knife.

Is it just that execution satisfies a revenge need?I've seen it said that the legal process leading to execution transfers more cash to lawyers than would have paid for the average prisoner's incarceration for the remainder of his life. As with most things in the US, the need is consequently rooted in capitalist principle. I'm not sure what group collectively set up the rules which produced this curious state of affairs. Perhaps they were lawyers?

Interestingly I rented a movie last night called the Exonerated. 6 well known actors play 6 people from the United States who were convicted, were on death row and then found to be innocent. I only mention this to highlight the great care there must be in deciding on the death penalty.

It's simple to me. It says you can't get away with murder. You can't take a life and not expect to lose yours. It says life is held in such high regard that if you take a life like this guy did you will pay with your life. You don't get a life of less quality in exchange for what you did...you don't get to have a life.

i watched and listened for the 2 hours leading to his execution. he ate lobster tails and shrimp. :( then when it was time he sang some song about going to heaven until they finally shut off the mic. the parents of his victims were there, and the only peace this gave them was knowing his desire for fame has forever been thwarted.

the parents had no vengeance in their hearts. rolling was a sword of damocles hanging over their heads, now he's gone. gainesville will never be the same, but the wall of grief and honor is there, never again to be obscured by rolling writing some book about how he wanted to be the beast. i was at ted bundy's execution too. he more than likely killed 100 young women. nobody i know derives any pleasure from these things. but some of us believe in the justice of it. as for the death penalty, we have had much discussion here about it, and i too am horrified at the prospect of killing an innocent person. i'm glad for the irrefutable proof of DNA. the rest is up to a jury. and years of appeals and review .

The availability and use of it doesn't convince me to shift my opposition to the death penalty. It's still guilt on the basis of probability.i agree...it needs to accompany circumstantial evidence as well.
