TEL AVIV – Terror groups allied with Hamas in the Gaza Strip are planning a series of large-scale attacks against Israeli positions near Gaza "within the coming days," including rocket attacks, suicide bombings against Jewish communities and raids of Israeli military posts, several senior terror leaders in Gaza told WND today.

Palestinian and Israeli security officials said they are aware of the attack plans. Israel said it beefed up security at Gaza border crossings.

The Palestinian officials said the threatened large-scale attacks, which they claimed may be imminent, are meant to provoke an Israeli military response in Gaza that would unite the Palestinians and thwart any attempt by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to dissolve the Hamas-led Palestinian government.

I've learned here in my time on forumgarden that the palestinians are oppressed; therefore, their planned attacks are okay, or at least, excusable.

it's the fun way of thinking of the jew haters. they *will* excuse the acts. every time. you can count on it.

I was counting on it and I didn't have to wait long either.

The other thing you can count on is the killing of the messenger.

The last time the monthly death toll of Palestinians in the Occupied Territories was below an average one a day was April. Since then there have been 423 killings by the Israeli military within Palestinian territory, excluding the far higher bodycount in Lebanon. Who needs provocation with that background? The Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories provides a detailed description of each incident at http://www.btselem.org/english/Statisti ... Category=1 .

The whole thing is as clear as mud.

BBC

Seven Palestinians including a senior militant figure have been killed in clashes with Israeli troops in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian officials said.

The officials said the men were shot at a mourning ceremony during an Israeli undercover raid.

But Israel said its troops were engaged in a gunfight with armed men threatening Israel with rocket fire.

Palestinian sources said the incident was in Beit Hanoun but Israel said it was operating near Beit Lahiya.

The incident came as Palestinians celebrated Eid al-Fitr, the holiday marking the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

A statement from Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the killings as a "massacre".

...

Among those who died in the burst of fire was a man named Ata Shinbari, a senior commander in a militant organisation called the Popular Resistance Committees, the group and witnesses said.

The group is heavily involved in launching crudely made rockets across Gaza's border into Israeli territory.

The militant groups often say that such missile fire is a response to Israeli army actions in occupied Palestinian territory.

Mr Shinbari has been described as the man in charge of his organisation's activity in northern Gaza.

A spokesman for the group, Abu Abir, vowed revenge for Shinbari's death, saying at a news conference: "This is the calm before the storm."

Violence between Israelis and Palestinians in recent weeks has been at its worst since June, when the Israelis launched an offensive to try to rescue a captured soldier.

It's almost an entirely different news report.

If you ask Al-Jazeerah they will tell you that the IDF has been bulldozing agricultural land and bombing the agricultural college in Palestine for the last few days.

“We have No One to Talk To: Israel’s Targeted Assassination Policy

Rosemary Radford Ruether

May, 28, 2006, Ramallah, Occupied Palestine

On May 24, 2006, Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, appeared before the U.S. Congress to decry the lack of any “genuine Palestinian partner for peace, with whom Israel could talk. Although declaring “our deepest desire to build a better future for our region, hand in hand with a Palestinian partner, Olmert warned that Israel cannot “wait forever, If such a partner fails to appear, Israel will move forward to set the borders of Israel vis á vis the Palestinians unilaterally. Olmert received the warmest ovations from the Congress and was promised support from the White House for the plan to unilaterally set Israel’s borders, should no Palestinian leaders who satisfy Israel’s conditions as “partners for peace appear.

Olmert’s stance should be put in the context of Israel’s long standing policy of targeted assassination of Palestinian leaders. For more than thirty years it has been Israel’s policy to assassinate or otherwise eliminate popular Palestinian leaders who were independent and had wide trust of the people, while seeking to construct a subservient leadership with whom it could negotiate “peace on Israel’s terms. In the 1970s, after Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and Gaza in the 1967 war, Israel tried to create the “village leagues, a puppet leadership which Israel could pass off as Palestinian self-government. These pseudo-leaders were resoundingly rejected by the Palestinian people. In 1976 Palestinian municipalities were allowed to elect their own mayors. When pro-PLO candidates swept the elections, Israel sought to assassinate several of them. The mayor of Ramallah lost one leg and the mayor of Nablus both legs in car bombs. In 1982 Israel removed all the elected mayors and replaced them with Israeli military governors.

From the founding of the PLO in 1964 until 1992 Israel refused to talk to the PLO, claiming they were determined to “destroy the state of Israel, even though the PLO had accepted a two state solution by mid-1970s. Prominent leaders of Palestinian organizations were killed in rocket attacks and car bombs. In 1973 a group of Israeli commandos, led by Ehud Barak, (later Prime Minister of Israel) arrived by speedboat in Beirut. Disguised in women’s clothes Barak and his men gunned down three top PLO officials in their downtown apartments. Arafat himself escaped assassination only by living constantly on the run, seldom sleeping in the same place on successive nights.

Also no-one is killing the messenger, I'm certainly not criticising you for posting. I am however stating that WorldNetDaily is not a reliable source of information although it is excellent for conservative propaganda.
I'd like to spend more time on this but I'm out of here in a few minutes.

I don't know if you are a "Jew hater" or not. I do know it didn't take long for you to try discredit the article. WND is only one source I read. I also read sources from Israel. The WND article seems to bear out what I read elswhere.

I understand that you are not criticising me for posting but you took a shot at the source I posted from.

I don't know of a news source today that is walking down the middle just reporting facts without a slant in one direction or the other.

It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that somone in Hamas or any of the other mutlitude of terrorists groups operating out of Gaza and the West Bank are planning more attacks on Israel..This could have been disinformation.
You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted, then used against you.

Think about it. If the Palestinians want to provoke an Israeli attack to unite the people in a sympathy vote then the last thing that they'd do is publicise it beforehand - all that would do would be to bring the blame down on themselves for deliberately provoking the attack.

You might well be reporting the content of the article without a slant but the article itself is quite clearly tilted at 45 degrees and that is what is being critisized.
