Since the updates, I now have a "banner" I guess you'd call it,

something about "Threads below not updated since your last visit..."

and none of those threads (even ones I know for SURE I haven't

gotten to yet but would at some point like to) have the bold type

to let me know or any frogs for view first unread. Some of the threads

of course will be obvious, but not all.

For instance "The harm of minimum wage" might be something I'd like

to look at, or look at new comments, now I can't really unless I

try to remember who was the last poster I saw there...

But that's always been there.

Those threads that had unread posts in them at the point at which you were last active on the site are after the banner.

Does you "go to first unread post" icon not work?

What's always been there? The banner? Not for me, it's new today.

Sorry, guess I'm not explaining the problem very well.

I don't have time all the time to look through ALL of today's posts

for things of interest to me. But now, I can't really come back to

them at a later time, 'cause there's no more bold type and no more

frogs, it's like the system thinks every time I get on here I look at

everything, and that is far from the case!!

I misread your post about the bold and thge "frogs" - it sounds like, when the system was brought down for the upgrade, a "mark forums read" was effectively done on your user Id.

I've always seen the banner when going back through "new posts" and, I'd guess, it should show in today's posts if you log out for a few hours and then log back in again (it doesn't show if it's only a few minutes).

My user Id has not reset and I can still see where I'd got to in each thread so I would guess that it's a one off on your user Id caused by the system being cycled during the upgrade.

Well, from what it looks like... eventually these will all move down and off

of Today's posts and I will be back to normal...

Forgive me anyone if I missed your interesting thread!!

Sorry to interject, here, val - please forgive me......

Bryn Mawr, can you tell me where this icon is located?? I don't see a "go to first unread post" icon - didn't even know it existed.

Both of you please forgive my ignorance/innocence when it comes to the board, I'm still getting used to all of the functions.

:wah: It's a downward pointing arrow in the top left corner of the first post of a thread. It also appears just to the left of the thread title in the search results after a "today's posts" or "new posts".

Holy Cow - I had no idea that was a frog! Thank you, valerie. And I had no idea that I could jump back into a post where I left off reading! I feel ridiculous - all this time, I've been going back and re-reading posts I didn't have to because I didn't even know this function existed!

Sorry, guys - as I say, still trying to become familiar with the board and its many functions.

Arrows????? Do I need new glasses?

Also, Beagle, in case you need it... there's a little frog over to the

right after the last user name... click that and it will take you to

the very last post in that thread if you don't want to muddle through

a bunch...

Hi Val,

Bryn Mawr hit the nail on the head. After the upgrade, I had to rebuild/re-index parts of the database so some of these markers were changed.

Thanks Val! :D

Frogs they are. :p Also, if you hover your mouse pointer over the frog graphics or the thread link itself, a little description window will pop-up and give you information about that particular active link.

No quick reply - yet - and most of the active icons are on the forumdisplay/threaddisplay pages.
