Calling out names of people that have donated and then posting this:

You don't see that as being a little pushy? I feel that gifts and donations should be a little more 'private'... this feels like a competition and you're the cheerleader. And I certainly don't mean any offense by that remark, I'm trying to explain this as clearly as possible.

Once again, I'd like to make it as plain as possible that I'm not saying people shouldn't donate. This is a forum filled with very generous and kind people that give from the heart. What I AM saying is that some of this generosity would be better served and perhaps more appropriate in PMs.

My apologies if this post is taken in a manner other than the way I meant it.

Best of luck to you and your family, Jimbo.

no worries snoozie i fully intend to pay every one back and it hurts like hell to take it but what would you do if your child was on the other side of the world in a hospital

i'm not just taking it for me its for her also

have a nice one :-4

 I think everyone's had their chance to say their piece. We're adults here and can decide things for ourselves. Now just let it go please and stop making an issue. Or take your own advice and deal with some PMs. Thanks.

Sorry Jimbo, I'm leaving now.

It didn't seem like you were making it into an issue, Snooze.

To forestall the rest of you, yes, I realize by me now saying something

(I just saw this) that it is being made more of an issue but them's

the breaks.

The way I see it, Snooze has to practically bend in half to try and

get something across in a way that won't get the knickers in a twist

on the rest of you and you STILL don't want to let her have her say.

Yes, in a public post. I agree with her (and the others who said

something) 100 %. Why should we who feel this way have to keep

quiet? I've tried, but it's pretty difficult. Though I've been reading

this thread all along, I've stayed out until now and was going to

continue to do so until I saw the reaction to Snooze's posts. I didn't

just go ahead and avoid this thread because I do care about Jimbo

and his whole family. And most of the stuff contained herein is very

heartwarming.

You guys who feel the opposite way about the way this was done

could have continued on and not even responded to Snooze's

post.

Have strength, Jimbo.

Snooze had already objected from the start. We heard the first time. We heard ALL the people who had issue with what we were doing. We didn't need to be told repeatedly. And the thing is, we don't care. We will do what we *want* to do and if that's to help someone, then so be it.

Let this damned thread die. It is embarrassing that people present themselves this way. In fact, it's disgusting.

I can't stand some of the threads on FG, they just plain offend me. But I figure we're adults and responsible for ourselves and nobody twisted my arm to read a thread or go along with it. I suggest some of you guy scould apply that here. No one reached into your wallets so kindly stop acting as if anyone did and let the rest of us carry on with our business.

hi pinky, i think its because jimbo has only been a member for two months, that leaves the forum wide open to unsavoury people rubbing their hands together seeing members as an easy target

i think we all agree jimbo & suzy are fantastic people & want to help them but you must admit we are in many ways leaving ourselves wide open to future problems

perhaps we could set up some sort of fund for members in need off the main board  in fact im going to start a thread about it so this one can be left for its initial intended purpose :-6

I think that Snoozie has a right to her opinion and a right to state it publicly. :)

She didn't say anything in a cruel and obnoxious way.

And like any other FG member

She deserves to have her say :-4

I absolutely agree, freedom to state an opinion is enough for countries to go to war over but I hope that doesn't start here!

I replied to Snooze and I sincerely hope that I didn't offend her for that was never my intention. She had valid opinions and concerns and every right to express them.

It's hard to see people that you form a bond with, however tenuous, suffering and if Hammy wants to do something to help then that is a fantastic thing. None of us was obliged to join in nor even read the thread. Jim wants to pay people back and like everything else we have to take that on trust.

I like that idea too, I've already said I don't want my donation paid back I'd rather it went to a children's charity if, and only if, Jim and Suzy's finances allow in the future.

I like the idea of paying forward too.

Jim & Suz, keep your money for when Chantelle gets here, don't forget you'll need to pay for her food and upkeep (and phone bills!) plus for her bf if he stays for 3 months too!

Hammy hunni, please can you send me your email or whatever details I need to send a paypal payment to you? Thankyou.

My puter is playing up really badly at the moment! :-5 it keeps shutting down or playing silly bu**ers, so its taken me a while to catch up on this thread!

Time for a cuppa before I start reading all about you and OM! Woohoo! You're such a dark horse! I never had an inkling! But he's such a lovely chap and you're such a sweetheart that I'm sure you'll be perfect together!

Big hugs to you and OM, Hammy! :-4

Big hugs to Jim, Suzy & Chantelle too! :-4

First off jimbo and suzy didnt ask for anything but sympathy. Others decided too help them. If you don't want to give, don't! I will trust the situation until proven wrong. If I am wrong I will have learned a very cheap lesson. I do not think anyone gave so much that it will be devastating if it does prove wrong. Lets just chill out and hope we have helped someone in need. JMO.

oh dear, when did anyone ever say this situation was a scam?

i totally believe in it & started the other thread so all contriversial opinions could go there & leave this a positive thread which hamster intended & maybe work out some ways to have a fund off the main board as it could attract problems in the future, whats so wrong with that?

I've just spoken to JIm, who's lovely by the way, they've had better news about Suz which is posted elsewhere but he's not sure if he's going to be able to see Chantelle so he's not booking tickets yet until he knows for sure.

He's really grateful for the support people have shown here and the phone calls, and he's a bit embarrassed about needing the help. Bless!

Keep your chins up Jim, yes all of them, and keep us posted lovey.

BCup :)

You did nothing wrong

You had the class and innate good sense to start a *separate* thread about the issue in a most objective way

I commend you for that :-6

Now

how 'bout we keep this thread for its intended purpose

to root on our Jimbo :-6

thanks every one for everything

i can honestly its the emotional support that has been the biggest help

its been pretty grim here going to work ,come home change, wash then go up the hospital try and be cheeerfull for sue ,come home shattered

no family any where no one to talk to for some reason i can open up to you guys and say it exactly as it is , i came back went into my local every one said how is sue isaid fine blah blah made all the right noises ,people said i looked very tired i said no i,m fine honest and i could not open up

but if i had got on the phone to hammbo pinkpoo i girl krambo wise guy red stargate girl in fact any of you well almost i could of said how bad i felt

my girls mom said something terrible and untrue the sort of thing that you have to reply and defend youself about ,and that was that the reason she had been waiting for to stop contact but i believe i had to say what i did

so you can imagine how i felt going to bed heart heavier than hippo's arse no sleep for jimbo at all i should be in a position to pay back all the money to the people that sent it next week i'm trying hard

i have to pay for the spurs tickets today for my friend that has terminal c

if she said she could not accept them it would hurt me badly its a gift i want her to have

i have said that as i dont want to hurt any of your feelings but i feel a lot of good people have had good intentions shoved down their throats by a few people on f g which is their right but believe me when your really down and hurting made things hurt a whole lot more

believe me guys i love you people and there is no way i would leave myself in a position not be able to see my girl :-4 :-4 :-4

Jim from what ive read there was no witch hunt just a couple of people looking out and showing their concern for everyone who uses this forum . Nobody should ever be encouraged to give to strangers blindly without the opportunity to ask questions and no that is not what happened here- for the record . Were all strangers here . There was no malice or meaness just friends looking out for friends .

Hammy/ Jimbo

I shouldn't worry about it too much, it's just going to cause additional frustration.

Hammy - You recognised someone you wanted to help (with the limited information you had you made an informed decision) and acted on this.

Jimbo - It's up to you whether you accept the gesture or not. Only you know yourself enough to decide this.

Others - You will do what you want to do, you are independently minded people. You have the information you have, and only that... so your decision will be informed to a certain extent. Give or don't give - simple as that!

well said & never at any point did i see anyone suggest a scam or use that word in malice, im amazed that word has been used so often in this thread & yet see no evidence of its actual use by any member who questioned the concerns for members of the whole forum in any future threads relating to this type of thing :-5
