Hello jika, welcome to the Garden. One thing about the Garden is that it is addictive to the vigorous mind, so we hope to hear your views and opinions on the various issues being discussed here. Go round and enjoy.

Please how did you arrive at the name Jika? It is a name that's used by the fulani people of northeastern Nigeria. Infact, i even have a friend who bears the name Jika. Anyways, you're welcome to FG.

Thanks again for all the welcome notes.

Special Hi to fellow 'newbies', Geezer Gal and Rebecca.

To answer poly carp re: how did I arrive at the name Jika?

Well, the area we live in, was/is known in Australian Aboriginal terms as the Jika Jika lands, home to the Jika Jika peoples before colonialisation, or invasion, as some may say, of this great southern land. (Late 1700's)

I like the name and have great respect for indigenous people, their culture, languages and history. :)

Hi Jika!

Are you close to Philip Island? I visited there about 15 years ago...and saw the cute little Penguins come ashore. It was very cool! Ever been there?

Hey capt_buzzard! Yup, there's plenty of Irish down under, even I, have Irish blood running through my veins :)

Hi to Oatneal! Yes I am reasonably close to Phillip Island. It's about an hour 1/2 drive from Melbourne and I'm so glad you got to see the cheeky little Fairy Penguins make their way up the beach. They are impossibly cute! Phillip Island is home to a large population of Koalas and thousands of Fur Seals too. Did you see any of them?

A warm welcome to you Jika! My name is 1Lt. Jonathan St. Ives USAFR, an ex-fighter pilot turned alternative school math teacher. Welcome to the Garden, from what I know of you so far, your avatar is very suited to your personality....warm and friendly!

On the whole you'll find this board is a very well-behaved and interesting one. It's well-moderated and has the most fascinating and mature group of people I've ever come across, and I've seen a lot of boards in my day. I have a feeling you won't be a n()()b for very long!
