Breaking up is hard to do

Post by koan »

Just got thinking about this. Have you ever had trouble breaking up with someone? As in they wouldn't accept it and kept coming back?

I think we should have a few offerings of tactics that can be employed. Here's my first "Dear John" speech that has proved effective. (yes, I actually had to say this once)

"Dear John"

I think you need to understand that I don't like you.

Not because I don't understand you. I've watched you and studied you for some time, trying to figure out why you do the things you do. And I've reached the conclusion that I just don't like anything about you. Not a single thing.

Now. Will you go away?

come on, there must be others who've had to come up with something similar...let's hear it.

she changed the locks, had her brothers move out my stuff, and refused to take my phone calls. she had her mom give back my ring to my mom. and several days ago she stuck a "its not you; its me" letter to my car. couldn't even give it to me in person.

yeah...

Hey, wolfy

I don't get why she got the place if she believes it wasn't you it was her. Totally unfair.

Wolvie - hugs to you.

My worst break up was handled very badly by me -

I was 14 and had been seeing this older guy (16) for 2 months - we used to meet at the under 18's disco in town. It was Valentines day and I'd decided I didn't want to see him anymore (because he'd come into my school to see me wearing a pair of checked flares - the fashion was for drainpipes - oh the humiliation) so I just didn't turn up, he phoned a couple of times and eventually asked if I wanted to go out with him anymore, I said no and that was it. It wasn't until later that I realised he'd probably bought me something - should have waited a week!!

AS to the OP, yup, I've had 'em!

I still got calls from an ex until 6 months ago when I changed my number!

One psycho dude would turn up at the salon (when I was a hairdresser, shows how long ago that was!) on a monday when I was the only person in. I used to have to keep clients until the next one arrived.

I'd get phone calls when everyone else was out and it only got resolved one night when I came home. He was waiting for me around the side of the hedge, and grabbed my car keys, saying I wasn't having them back until we'd talked...trouble is, his idea of talking was bullying me into stuff.

So, I yelled obscenities at the top of my voice, at which point he pinned me against the wall by my neck, so I punched him one. Full force right on the nose.

He didn't bother me again;)

Say no more, say no more. oh, the shame of it all... his gift could not have covered half the damage.

Wolf

Sorry about the break up - last we heard you were on the sofa. Usually when one receives a letter "it's not you it's me" they're already roaming around - as in another interest. Wolf - been there - and in my situation he did me a favor, saw him a couple years ago yuk. Glad to unload that one.. She did you a favor - really.

Wolf - she's taught you to look for better qualities in a lady.

I've had relationships where the guy kept coming back around - I call that a yo yo relationship. One night stand material - Not meant to be long term.

Love can sweep you off your feet and carry you along in a way you've never known before. But the ride always ends, and you end up feeling lonely and bitter. Wait. It's not love I'm describing. I'm thinking of a monorail.

Never mind.

All of my breakups were nasty. I dont believe in civil ones. They are a myth.

They leave us scars and baggage that takes ages to unload. But my method works pretty good for me. I just move states away. Put massive big distance between us.

Wolverine, you WILL get over this. Takes time, but you will. And before you know it, you will be asking whatever did you do to deserve the sweet thing that snuck up on you while you werent looking! :-6
