Rev. Jerry Farwell was hospitalized late last night. He was reported to be on a ventalater or somekind of breathing mechine. How Ironic last week he was saying Terri S. Should be allowed to live. He was right. I hope he doesn't die. He is really the big wig of the christian commity, Pat Robertson , maybe second and then next Billy Graham.

I can't say that I ever heard of the person Gerry Farwell on this side of the pond. But the name FARWELL caught my eye. In Ireland, there is the name Farrell and O'Farrell. Way back in the 1800s many Irish emigrants changed their names to better themselves in the new world, the UNITED STATES, today, these names are causing more headaches for Irish Family History researchers.

LYNCHBURG, Va ” The Rev. Jerry Falwell was hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday, battling his second case of viral pneumonia in just five weeks, hospital and church officials said.

Falwell, 71, was admitted to Lynchburg General Hospital shortly before midnight Monday suffering from "respiratory arrest," the hospital said in a statement.

He was put on a ventilator and stabilized but remained in critical condition, the hospital said.

"He's resting comfortably and in stable condition," said Ron Godwin, Falwell's executive assistant. "It's a recurrence of the viral pneumonia."

Falwell, the founder of the Moral Majority and Liberty University, had left the hospital March 4 after 13 days, spending part of the time on a ventilator.

In a recent interview with The Associated Press, Falwell said he was feeling much better, but still recovering from his hospital stay.

Falwell had been in the pulpit Easter Sunday at Thomas Road Baptist Church and appeared in good health, said the Rev. Dave Randlett, a senior associate pastor.

"He always looks 'up' so you wouldn't know if he wasn't" feeling well, Randlett said. "He was very optimistic."

Great News for humanity that this fundamentalist jihadist may be ending his reign of Hate soon. Falwell is a militant fundamentalist that preaches Hate Division and Ignorance. The Osama of the Christian faith if you will. I'll pray he expires soon and has the opportunity finally to meet his real end; Burning in the Hell he condemned everyone that wasn't a part of his cult. Good Riddance Jerry. Only the terrorist wing of Christianity will give a crap.

Is this the guy that about 15 years ago said that if he did not raise a million bucks through donations that God was going to call him home, and when he did'nt, he said God changed his mind? Or was that Billy Graham? I thought God would have called him somewhere just for that!! I don't have much room in my life for televangalists. I don't think God needs my money. Jesus spread the word and did it the best, without a collecting plate. I remember when Baker was exposed with his mansion and heated dog houses, all supported by his followers. See, Jim Jones had it all wrong, he should have milked them dry before he served the kool-aid. Sick bastards, all of them.
Death is more universal than life. For although everyone dies, not everyone truly lives.

I couldn't disagree with you more kmhowe72. Falwell is a leacherous hatemonger with just a sliver of cultists that follow his extremist diatribes. He is no Billy Graham dear. Do you also respect Rev. Fred Phelps of Topeka, KS? I bet you have posters of him if you love Falwell! Check him out at www.GodHatesFags.com.

You know.....I never could figure, how people ACTUALLY buy in to their crap! What is so wrong with folks, that they would believe ANYTHING anybody told them??? Blind acceptance of someones elses opinion, without searching the truth of the matter themselves??

Televangelists and their holy hankies!!! :yh_rotfl

I have to disagree Beth. I think the world would be a slightly better place had he been aborted. Just my view of the good Reverend.

Sorry about your mom, LC. Hope the pain has lessened over time.

And I understand you post. I often feel guilty for being indifferent or even happy about a bad thing. In your case, I understand your view; the guy got bad people off for top dollar. I thought he was a sell out.

Someone else would have just filled his place. Perhaps someone worse. But, if he had been aborted, he never would have existed and this discussion would not, either. I don't take glee in his illness. I think this life is a one shot thing and that it is precious, even for his kind.

Many people who die, deserve to live, but we cant give that to them either. We shouldnt be too quick to hand out judgement on who deserves to die. In the end, we all do. And what sort of mark will WE leave behind? Personally I intend to mark as many walls that I can, with RAVEN WAS HERE!!! :yh_hugs

Plenty of rightist blogs gush over Falwell as if he is a prophet! Just as many other sites admire Hitler and Meir Kahane. Falwell was the Christian Osama. Preaching extremism and division all the way to what I hope is his well deserved death bed. His lack of compassion, intelligence and any sign of mental stability was bad enough. All the cattle he convinced to follow him enhance the damage he has done to America. I won't be shedding any tears on his final day.

I'm glad to hear it!! Even real Christians reject Falwell's brand of extremism.

GOOD RIDDANCE! :-6

What a beautiful day in this country. A spawn of unnecessary fear and hatred has finally dropped dead. Now that the fundamentalists are losing their vices on Christianity, perhaps the faith itself will begin to heal from the wounds that they've inflicted upon it. Then again, we still need to be rid of James Dobson, Billy Graham, and everyone in the AFA. I look forward to the day when Christianity is no longer used as a front for fear and hate, and the latest religious fashion trend has faded from society.
