Yes I know, apparently they have clamped right down on this sort of thing since that Polonium 210 poisoning happened in london, though I told them that as far as I was aware I am not currently very radioactive, though I may well be emitting various particles, we will have to wait for the lab results on my snots to come through I'm afraid, and you can't get a geiger counter for love nor money at the moment.

Cheers clancy, I am over the worst with the nose thing now, its just getting this damn radiation check done so I can send my saved snot to Nomad who wants it for reasons that I don't know and don't want to think about. How are you doing yourself, I havn't been talking to you in ages. I see you wanted a 335 for Crimbo, nice choice, you love your blues of course. I went for a Telecaster so I could have two, I love them so much! I do love the 335 too though, I've got a little picture of a cherry sunburst one on my wall, though I've never actually owned one, I did have a cherry sunburst Epiphone Casino that I got in the U.K., which was a beautiful guitar, but it was frustrating to use as no matter what I did it was very hard to keep it in tune, tried 3 type of string heads and all. I had to sell it one time unfortunatly, I miss having it, but it was a modern one, so its easily replaced, but a vinatge casino would be really nice.

P.S. I like it when people do the little shamrock icon for me, do we have thistle, leeks, or rose icons, for the different countries? It would be a nice little thing to be able to do for other people who are not Irish, which on this board is everyone except me.

The acoustic dept, I'm ok ....but as is usual, the eyes still look out for things like :

Rickenbacker 12....a, 335......a, National Steel,....a, Telecastor .....the list goes on into infinity.

I've a few new year resolutions. First and foremost to give up the cigs for good this time. 2nd , is to start recording again. I've got the gear to do it with, but for months now, it's been mothballed. I spend far too much time browsing on-line, so I intend to cut back on that. The material we played "was blues based....but what I do in-house is a total departure. I love starting with a blank canvas as they say....plus I only have to please myself , and not others.

You mentioned the Epiphone Casino ....my china has one , and the first thing he did was to fit a set of grovers to replace the original machines , what a difference ! it's a fantastic guitar. :guitarist

Good to hear you are getting back into the recording, I have the same resolutions, though I am already working on the album, just getting round to the final touches, but it will be pretty much done soon, specially as my nose has been fixed so I will be able to sing the vocals the way I want them, but I also have me patches from the doctor and I am coming off them damn cigaretees again.

As for the guitars, thats interetsing, I put new grovers on it, twice, but it still slipped on the G, though it was at least playable with the govers, couldn't work it out, but yes it was a brilliant guitar, unique, I think. Like you I have a lot of wish lists, I have a very very good takamine acoustic, another one, and of course the Telecaster, (actually my old squire means I have two I forgot) but its a custom Light Ash Fender made in the Far East asia Japan or Korea, its actually great, very good quality, lovely action and tone, its got a seymor duncan back pickup that is just brilliant, and its quite light so its nice for regular use and long gigs. I have a pretty nice Aria GT Series bass as well, the AD100VT Vox amp, and my Yamaha keyboard so I am fairly tooled up. In terms of other guitars I refuse to play Les Pauls, becuase I don't want chronic back problems later in life, though they are lovely looking guitars, and they have that fat sound. I do really like strats, there is a really nice USA deluxe one on sale in my local store, its got a slighly darened maple finish, maple neck, white pearl inlays, and a red toroiseshell pickguard, beatiful, I've played it, its one of the nicest strats I've ever played, but it costs €1,899, so maybe next christmas. Most of the modern designs of newer guitars put me off them, I'm not into Charvels or Paul Reed Smiths, or those very highly engineered ones, they just leave me a bit cold for some reason.

I think my wish list would be the American Series Tele, that particular strat I was talking about, another Casino, a dark stained Gibson SG special, which are my all-time favorite Gibsons, a 335 in a deep crimson, and the Semi-Solid Rickenbacker, but the 6-string one. Actually my friend bought a Hohner semisolid, its a not a derivative of another guitar but an original Hohner design, the thing its closes to would be a smaller bodied version of the semi-solid rick, its finsihed in Maple, its actually a real gem, I would buy it off him he if ever comes round to selling it.

My own acoustic/elec, is a Takamine too ....they take a lot of beating for value ....in fact the rest of my mates all use Takamine acoustics of varying models.

I completely agree with you, my main one is the EAN10x model, its as good (if not better) as any acoustic I have ever played, with the one exception of Liam Clancy's 1974 D24 Martin, (which my cousin bought off him), but you can't get good martins nowadays unless you can get your hands on an older model, and then there is the pickup problem. I don't like the new ones at all and they are ridicoulously expensive, if I was gonna part with €3,500 for an acoustic I would get a lutheier to make me one bespoke, there are plenty of good private makers out there.

I mentioned this to you before (I think) My own Strat is an American Special Deluxe .....but the US standard Strats & the ones being made out of Encienada(SP) haven't that much of a difffernce between them.....plus al the machines /lathes/cutters...you name it are shipped to mexico from the U.S Fender plant BTW, Jimmy Vaughan's signature Strat is made in Mexico , and it's a beautiful instrument.

There is a guitar maker in Glasgow "Jimmy Moon" ....Moon guitars are probably the best I've ever tried ....obviously they are all hand made, his acoustics are stunningly good ....and equally stunningly priced. My first Strat (a 74) was bought from him .... If you fancy a browse, this is his site

I had a sunburst les for a while, and after about 6 months I was getting lower back pains if I shouldered it for more than about 30 mins, and I was 24 at the time, thats why I sold it.

Yeah,Definately !! Moon is a luthier , and there are plenty others dotted around the U.K. & I'm sure in Ireland too....for that amount of lolly , you can get one built to your own specifications. ....plus these guitars don't depriciate in value, either

.Oh to be really wealthy ....but I saud that as a boy when I only had cheaper guitars ....now I have a few good ones , I'm still wanting ....but I don't think that ever changes , if the amount of guitars the rich and famous collect.....still it could be worse , I could be p*ssin' it all up the wall if I never had the desire to play in the first place ....It kept me out of trouble. .....and got me in trouble too, but that's another story lol ...as I'm sure you're familiar with being a guitarist yourself

:guitarist

I know my friend clancy I know, but my attitude is that money spent on an quality instrument is always an investment over the long term, and jaysus there are a few I would like to invest in still, but sure as long as you can play what you have thats the main point I suppose. I have a freind with a quite a large guitar collection and they are mostly very expensive ones, it drives me mad when i call round cause I am jealous, but at least they are not wasted, he is an excellent guitarist, though he's a bit over-technical for me, if you know what I mean. Hope your day goes well for you sir.

How're the patches working?

Have I mentioned how sexy men who don't smoke are?

Have I mentioned that NOT smoking increases blood circulation in the ummmm....hmmmm....WILLIAL area?

I have not had a cigarette since friday night, I have never tried patches before, but they definetly reduce cravings. I am not going to give you any hostgaes to fortune by making big predictions, but I am making a determined effort as I want to increase the blood circulation in my private areas by as much as possible, (as well as be able to sing properly, not wheeze after lifting a teabag more that 3 feet in the air, have money to spend on petrol, and also not die horribly of some violent-sounding disease).

Have I mentioned that highly intelligent women with a scientific outlook and an ability to speak their minds are also quite attractive? ;)

XOXOXO--patches are good. Non-smokers smell good. And it's MUCH more fun to kiss them!
