What's your weather like today.....

It's that wet stuff that drops form the sky when that big grey cloud passes over head. Unfortunately, some of us have it in abundance and crave the sunshine....:)

I seriously wished I'd emigrated 30 years ago to warmer climes....but then when the spring arrives and nature comes to life again....I'm happy here.

Maybe someone can fix it so that sring/summer are the longest seasons and autum/winter the shortest.........just thinking that Global warming /climate change might do that for us :-6

Don't tease us you aussie blackguard, we live in the British Isles, I think we invented rain, unfortauntly we havn't managed to export enough of it to those who seem to need a good wetting! Rain in Ireland is an interesting thing, we have those mild showers that are like a sprinkler turned on low (when we have that rain we tend to say to each other "soft day, thank god". Then we have the normal heavy rain that we call lashing rain, then we have that warm rain that comes up from the south atlantic thats almost warm in summer, then we have that crazy rain that hits you in all directions, then we have that rain that seems to fall "up" from the ground and gets up your flarey jeans, then we have the really serious rain, then there is the intermittent rain. 9 times out of 10 the forecast for the entire year can be spelt out in the simple oft-repeated phrase, "sunny spells and scattered showers" that about sums it up. That about about 4 weeks of goodsunshine, and those lovely spring days when its lovely to be here in Ireland, its a lovely country when the bright spring sunshine comes through the hills on a clear cool day.

Bez - this is such a big country that it has many different climatic conditions. I haven't lived in the tropical or semi-tropical areas, only visited but people did tell me that (the ones from down south) that they missed the four distinct seasons.

I think Tasmania is the closest we would have to a northern-European temperate climate-zone and a beautiful, beautiful state it is too.

We're actually lucky in the UK...we have no extremes of weather....(god forbid, we're usually ill prepared for anything removed from 'the norm').... but constant sunshine has its own dangers I guess....lack of water, bush fires etc.

Welcome to FG by the way :)

Hi Bez, thanks very much. People here are still talking about that storm! obviously it was terrible for those badly affected, but I still say you haven't experienced a real storm till you've been in a catergory 5 cyclone!!! when you crawl out from under a mattress and there's nothing but sky above you!

Unfortunatley five times now over the past 20 years or so, living in far North Queensland in Australia most of my life cyclones are something we simply learn to live I guess. We had a home in the mountains and in one particular bad cyclone our roof was totally ripped off and everything was sort of sucked out, 2 years later when people started clearing land to build further down the mountain, they found a lawnmower and a few window venitians from our house :) But I guess there are nature hotspots all over the world, some worse then Queensland, sometimes you think are we crazy to keep living here but your home is your home and its amazing how quickly life moves on and how much a community can rally together in such stresful times, plus as akid we were always guaranteed at least a week off school :D

I watched a 'Docu-Drama' on the history channel yesterday about the 1906 San Francisco earthquake......the worse side of nature if ever I saw it.....and the best/worst side of the human race.

90% of the programmes I watch on TV are documentaries....nature programmes....history...............and sport if it's not on a subscribed channel.
