Who would you like to meet?

Post by Lulu2 »

Have you a hero/public figure/someone you admire a great deal that you haven't met and would like to meet? Who would it be? Living or dead is ok.

I'd love to spend some time with Harper Lee, who wrote "To Kill A Mockingbird," and I'd like to meet Barbara Walters, too. What an interesting life SHE'S had!

Too many people, lots of science people of course, musicans as well, but muso's can be an awkward bunch and I wouldn't want to get me illusions shattered by some grumpy sod. I would like to meet Gore Vidal, he has seen it all, I bet he knows a thing or two, and Rodger Penrose, as then I could ask him what the book he wrote "The Road to Reality" is about!, I am lost, he is too clever for me, he would be someone who might be interesting. I'd really love to meet any of the people who have walked on the moon, my god what a life experience to be the only living things in the history of the planet to have seen the Earth from the moon, too much to take in!

In terms of history, any of the Early Roman emperors (well maybe not Caligula), Jesus (of course), some of the great Greeks like Erasthrophenes, or Democritus, Buddha, Galileo (I would love to tell him he was right, and that he would be remembered for it), not Newton, he was a genius, but not a nice man. I'd like to call in on Hitler as well, stuff the paradoxes, he was always wondering about how history would judge him, I'd like to let him know, before I strangled him that is. ;)

GORE VIDAL! YES! He's so witty and clever! And...he's known so many interesting people.

I'd like to meet poor, doomed Marilyn Monroe, too.

Leonardo Da Vinci and Albert Einstein
The poolhall's a great equalizer. In the poolhall, nobody cares how old you are, how young you are, what color your skin is or how much money you've got in your pocket... It's about how you move. I remember this kid once who could move around a pool table like nobody had ever seen. Hour after hour, rack after rack, his shots just went in. The cue was part of his arm and the balls had eyes. And the thing that made him so good was... He thought he could never miss. I know, 'cause that kid was me.

I'm a bit shallow but that's ok - I'd like to meet John Wyndham (author of the Day of the Triffids and others), JRR Tolkein, Nevil Shute just to find out how they drew their inspiration for their writing.

Living people - just Viggo Mortensen 'cos I fancy him rotten:-4

Let's see that's a difficult one.

Ghandi

Mother Theresa

Bruce Willis

Bono

And many more, but I'd give up a year just to spend 15 minutes with my parents again. :-4
