We had planned on doing this all this past weekend, but my mom had an employee call in sick, so she had to work a double shift at the hospital Saturday.
So she's got Tuesday off and we'll be doing our baking. Thursday night is fudge and peanut brittle.
So here's the recipe for martha washingtons, they are messy to make, but oh so yummy!
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 stick of butter
1 lb bag of powdered sugar
1 bag of flaked cocount
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups of finely chopped pecans.
Put the butter, milk, coconut, and vanilla in a bowl and mix well. Use your hands it's easier. Then add the pecans and mix well. Then slowly start mixing in the powdered sugar. This is easier if you have a partner to pour the sugar in, as you slowly work it into the mixture.
Once you've added all the powdered sugar, the mixture should be like a stiff dough. Cover bowel and chill for atleast 30 minutes. Then pinch off bits and roll into balls that are smaller than an inch in size. Place the balls on a cookie sheet that has been covered with wax paper. Then put in freezer.
Once the balls are frozen you are ready to dip in chocolate.
1 16 oz. bag of chocolate chips
1/4th block of parafin wax
melt these two items down together and keep warm for the dipping.
Dip each ball into the chocolate so that it's well covered. And place on wax paper to set up. After they are all dipped place back in freezer till chocolate has completely set up. Then remove from pan and store in freezer bags.
Merry Christmas
