Hubby and I plan to start the adoption process in June 2007. Here are some ideas that I came up with or someone told me about fro raising the $24,000 that we will need.

1) Have people donate old stuff you can sell at a yard sale and keep the money

2) Ask for cash instead of presents for birthdays and christmas and put it in a Savings Account

3) Car Wash

4) Dog Wash

5) House painting

6) Making bracelets

7) Selling my paintings

Or I could get a job at night waiting tables. Anyone got any ideas on something original for rasing funds?

And just in case, let me make this very clear so this post doesnt come across the wrong way: I AM NOT ASKING ANYONE FOR MONEY.:D GOT IT?

Anyway, ideas please?

If Im ever in Boston Im sure I will take you up on that. My husband saw your picture and said you were a gorgeous woman.

Also, we were talking the other night about options when hi contract is up and Boston came up as a place we would BOTH like to move to!!!

A golf tournament. Works every time. You could even get a local radio station to sponser it or advertise it. And the winners could get you for an evening. You didnt think the total post would be serious did you?:D

Um DG I wasnt kidding on the golf tournament part. I helped with a baseball team once. Made 4,000 one day of work. And it was a small one.

Yeah, hit up all your friends here. I can think of not one better cause for me to donate to.

I couldnt do that. Lots of people here need their own money. Anyway, IM hoping I get a drafting table for Christmas so I can paint more. Maybe I can sell those. Not like a huge amount but I'll take $50 a pop!!!!:wah:

I gave my sister one of them for Christmas. She really liked it. I was surprised. That gave me the confidence to keep doing it.

I love the idea of the Dog Wash because thats so easy and everyone needs it. Would you "charge" or just ask for donations?

Oh you can't go wrong asking for donations. anyone who likes the convenience of that little chore handled would cough up some cash. I sure would!

And by the way, a funny thing about this place....when our friends here know there is a need, they usually take matters into their own hands.

What is the time line for a adoption process? just curious

Golf Tournament always works - Do you know someone in a band - they can do a concert in you benefit. Put a ad in the classifieds - sounds weird, I actually read one and people were donating. Do you belong to a church - The Shriners organization maybe able to help. There are several organizations to contact.

we are doing domestic private throught Bethany Chrostioan Services so it could be 3 months up to a couple of years. It just depends on the placement or birth mother.

If you are at all crafty, you can sell the stuff on ebay.

All of your ideas sound good. Do not forget pet sitting...or going to peoples houses while they are away to bring in mail, tend to pets...stuff like that.

Can go from 0 - to bitch in 3.0 seconds .:D
