Dilemma

Post by theia »

I bought myself a new ipod today. I had to...my old one gave up altogether yesterday and I'm lost without it. It was about two and a half years old and I've used it constantly...it's been a good little ipod.

My lovely son in law is calling in later to connect it up to my computer, or whatever it is one does with an ipod...

Do I hide my old ipod from him? Because I was just saying a fond farewell to my trusted friend when I noticed a "hold" button at the top of it. When I slid it to the right, it lit up and worked. Now I didn't know anything about this hold button and I've never used it...truly! I really don't know how it managed to move itself, unless of course my cat has been messing about with it when I wasn't looking.

Should I be honest with my son in law or shall I lie and say I've binned the old one? Because he already calls me "dippy." :yh_doh

Don't ask me! It's just a little oblong thin thing that plays music. A bit like a Walkman but different..you don't need cds, well you do to begin with, but then you load them all on there and then you don't need them. You sort of load them on to your computer and then on to the ipod.

You really make me laugh :wah:

The little movable slide at the top is a safety lock. It stops the iPod being accidentally turned on (and the battery wasted)......have you got the instruction book Theia ?????

I bought myself my iPod Nano last Christmas. I have never downloaded music from the internet, but I have all my favourite CDs copied on to it and a few borrowed ones as well. you can 'hook it up' to speakers or a 'docking station' so that you don't have wear the ear phones. You plug it into you computer to charge it up.

I've been putting all my CDs onto itunes lately, its kinda fun and an opportunity to get reaqaunted with some old stuff, I must get myself an ipod some day soon, the only thing is that they are still very expensive I think anyway, and I also thnk that the price of them is going to drop dramatically in the near future. When you think about it, a mac mini is only €659 here (which is a fully working computer) and a 30Gb ipod is €329, which is a small compact hard drive and a bit of media software, a screen, and some headphones, it costs too much for what it is, when they come down to about €200 I will buy one, there would be no point getting a nano ipod cause I have about 8,000 songs already and I am still only half way thru, great little devices though, a really good invention.

I was honest, Betty..I sort of knew I would be...I'm trying to convince myself that my dippiness adds to my charm (to which you, Betty, respond, "Yes, theia, it most certainly does etc. etc.")

Unc...my cat doesn't listen to my ipod and hasn't since I exchanged those awful little "in your ear" listening devices for "on your ear" ones...the new ones won't fit him.

Gal...the ipod (30 whatevers) cost £170, so they have come down in price quite a lot.

And Bez, no, I didn't read the instructions...I'm not very good at that sort of thing...I needed Guppy's children to show me my error!)
