Well fellow FGer's, I have finally managed to get the myspace thing going, so now I have a little space where you can download and listen to the songs I am writing for me new album, (I know I don't really talk about being a musician much, but I am), anyways, if you would like to hear them you can go to this URL, it should work by licking on it, if it doesn't, just let me know.

Here is the link

p.s. Good reviews will not earn you any browine points in the advice column, I must remain as detached and degranged as ever when I am working. Bad reviews will be sent to the

I only listened to a bit as I'm at work but it sounds good Doc. I will give it my undivided attention later at home, but if the cited influences filter through it should be great. Will this album be available? :guitarist

It will, eventually, but these things take time, I am not on a record label, (though I have played in bands that were), so I will either do it independently, or see what joy I can get out of some people wot I know for getting it released on a label. Anyway, I will put other stuff up there as I go along, and you can download them from the site, so after a while you would have the album anyway, and you wouldn't need to buy it (anyways its going to be free to Villa fans)

!

Don't say that I said that though! :lips:

Thank you all for your nice comments, I am waiting for the critics (if you write the songs, they will come)! My advice is to download em if you like em, and pass em on to people, I don't mind at all, as long as people get to hear them and like them. :guitarist

Doing your own thing Doc is such a worthwhile and fulfilling thing. I think you have quite a unique style which is good. 50 ways to Love a Loser was redolent of early Bowie at times and my favourite on the 2nd listen. I hope this project is a success and as a fellow songwriter (retired),wish you well with it :guitarist

Thanks you lot, I am glad you like them, its nice to be able finally to let you hear me doing my music thing, I do enjoy it a lot, and its interesting to see how people pick up on different things in the songs etc. I will be updating the site as I continue with the album, as its not fully done, and they are only demo versions really, but they didn't turn out too bad. Anyways, keep listening if you like em, and pass em on. :guitarist

Clancy;485932 wrote: Anyone who takes a pencil and a few pages of blank paper, then goes on to create something musical from scratch gets ten out of ten from me.

You know as well as me...and Unc, learning every riff , and run....all the scales...the pull off's and bends, with pinched harmonics thrown for good measure, is a good way to keep you off the street and occupied.

I hope you keep at it , Galbally . One of the songs I listened to would have sat comfortably in an album called "The Man Who.....and without going, OTT, your vocal is more interesting than the singer/writer of that band in question. For me, "Hey" came across right away as being the type of track that sets that imponderable thing of being just right in feel, and delivery. As much as it's enjoyable, I know how difficult it can be to wear the different hats of, writer, vocalist, guitarist , arranger, tape operator, plus be objective, and selective at every turn. Putting it on to disc, and having it judged as a stand alone marketable product is the hard part

Getting good constructive criticism is also a hard part. People that aren't in the industry can't here possibles in, demo's, in house, or small studio produced. It's heartening to hear good comments ....and my comments certainly are honest. I think what I've heard so far is a good piece of work, and I look forward to listening to the other tracks that you've put on there. The competition in what your doing, and the genre your targeting (I hate that word) is fearsome, but you know that already. Your influences are as high as they get, and it's the only way to do it. I like what you're doing . :guitarist

Thanks Clancy, its good to hear from you on this, I am delighted to get some good honest feedback, its interesting about what people pick up from the songs alright, I am happy with how they are going, and as they are still kinda rough it gives some interesting background to go on and finish these particular songs that I am doing for this album. I think what you said about the competition of that area is entirely correct, but thats the music that I do naturally, so its aiming high and also just enjoying myself and not thinking it out too much, its a process thats hard to explain writing music, you know yourself, some of it is undefinable in how you get to where-ever it is you are going to with the songs and the instrumentation/arrangement etc. I will of course be soldiering on, I have only recently got back seriously into the music thing and I am enjoyng it veyr much. I am getting a piano player in for some of the final parts, I am had to basically play everything myself, and I am a good guitar and bass player, but my keyboards skills are not that good. I am also getting in a girl to do some backings, harmonies etc, she is a top quality singer and I am looking forward to getting her on the CD, there will be a few other people guesting by the end I think as well. I am hoping that you will not be putting some of your own music on mySpace or a similar site, it would be great to here. Uncle Kram also mentioned that he used to write songs, I'd love to hear some of them as well. Thanks for taking the time for listening and thinking about the songs, your insights are useful and also I am glad you enjoyed the songs, Hey?, does work, though it needs a little more tightening up, but I will get that done as well. All the vocals are just guide vocals and there is no backing yet, I will have to get that done as well, well, I do have a very good engineer in London who is going to master the final picks for the album, its all fun and exciting. Cheers clancey, and everyone, and pass them on and download away! :guitarist
