Hi Hotsauce. How old are these 60 kids of yours?

So - you can be the kid expert while I ask a question that's bothering me. The world's getting paranoid about kids talking to strangers - I grew up talking to strangers all the while and I'm sure it was good for me. There were child-murderers loose in society back then too, but there wasn't the fear for children that seems so commonplace nowadays among adults.

I expect we'll extend this fear onto the Internet as well, and frown at children joining in on conversation boards like this. We've effectively outlawed it in real life, and the Internet is getting more and more real-life as time passes.

Maybe we should avoid extending it here. Perhaps sites like this could be seen as the safe equivalent now to what I enjoyed as a child.
Nullius in verba ... ☎||||||||||| ... To Fate I sue, of other means bereft, the only refuge for the wretched left.
When flower power came along I stood for Human Rights, marched around for peace and freedom, had some nooky every night - we took it serious.

I think kids should have a healthy fear of strangers. I don't really see anything wrong with that. It could save their lives.

Interesting thought about the internet...maybe it IS one of the safe places left. That is...if you don't share too much information. From experience, it is better left that way.

My 60 kids are in grades K-8th.
