O christmas tree, O christmas tree...

Post by Raven »

Have you guys got yours up yet? We have.

We have an artificial number with all kinds of mismatched baubles and victorian looking dangles with loads of lights, garland and tinsel. Topped with a heavenly looking angel. Even though I prefer real trees, ours will do. I like laying down and looking up into it. Something magical about an old childhood ritual.

Whats your tree like?

White with blue baubles and garlands (no surprise there!)

Ours goes up this weekend, it's a real one. Years ago we bought a mechanical marching band thing that you hang on the tree and when you switch it on they play Christmassy tunes, we don't put it on every year mainly 'cos it gets on your wick after a while but this year with a little grandson we're putting it on so we're having a red and gold theme to match.

I really enjoy doing the tree and my daughter always helps. The fairy for the top is one that used to be on the tree when I was little, mum and dad replaced it and were going to throw it away until I said that they couldn't so it's mine now. I'm very sentimental about stuff like that.:)

I couldn't fit my tree into my suitcase so I'll have to get a new one, decorations and all from scratch.

My daughter and I are going to make all the decorations.

I want a cartoon angel on top. A man in a tutu with wings.

I'd like to see your tree, Koan! How about a picture? Actually I'd like to see everybody's tree. :)

This year will be very different as it's our first Cmas without my mother. :-1

We were going to do nothing but....

I'm fixing my mom's special enchiladas for Cmas Eve dinner and I bought a 32 inch tabletop tree with fiber optic lights. I bought new ornies for it and a red bead garland and a gold star topper. Also tiny red bows to tie on as Mom always liked that idea.

The crowning touch is a small white feather wreath I found last night!! It's perfect. In Appalachia when a person dies in bed, they cut open their feather pillow to see if there is a "feather crown" inside. If there is it supposedly denoted that the dead person has gone to heaven. I've always loved that superstition and when I saw the feather wreath last night I was very happy. :) This tree is not for me or my dad as much as it is for my mother who insisted we have a tree every year.

Our tree is beautiful

Old antique ornaments - I have white pearl beads from a friends wedding (MN) that are strung from branch to branch. I have old coca-cola ornaments and these cool button angels sitting on some branches. At the end of some branches I tie red velvet bows - at the top of our tree is a cool santa with a lanter that lights up and Santa moves the lantern , santa looks like the coca-cola santa.

Its alot of work - took 2 days to decorate, you know its a serious job when I have to take my jewlery off.

Put up our (artficial) tree the week-end after Thanksgiving. A good excuse to not go shopping on black Friday. Our tree is about 8 feet tree. This year it is all primary colors with lots of gold. I took branches that are coated with icey crystals that really look like ice on each branch. They reflect the colored lights. I am a retired florist so I do a lot of decorating for Christmas. I have a large teddy bear collection that I put on the stairway up stairs. If the grand-children bother them so what. Also on our tree is crystals that I ordered from a builders catalogue. They also reflect the lights. It actually glows. I also like to light all my candles, the tree and turn on Christmas music real low and just sit and soak it all in. Merry Christmas everyone.
