Grass: Questions About It

my favorite holiday, 3/17, now this is a thread, excuse me while i hop out into my natural garden, to put that in your pipe and smoke it, i'll hop back into this garden in a bit for a little more of the magical mystery tour (as he floats off in the yellow submarine). forty years and counting, firm believer in the medicinal qualities, taken along with the spiritual it's got it's benefits. cannabis clubs are probably the safest way to go (if you're worried about it being laced - better yet grow it yourself, it's a beautiful plant, but will take a while). don't have an m.d. prescription myself but have considered it, the law sometimes is more lenient if you have a r/x; however, as i posted somewhere else today: suppose someone enjoys the natural visual beauty of the plant and the aroma it produces (without smoking or consuming it), and they kept it in a container (similar to potpourri) for it's aroma therapy affect (you'd need several ounces to really enjoy the full-bodied aroma). i was told you could still get arrested. think about it, smart law like a smart bomb. now before all you greenies get back off the floor (regarding it's use for aroma therapy) my parents had a pet skunk when i was a kid and i like that aroma - nothing like driving past skunk road kill, i take long deep breaths and recall the joys of childhood. i think the jury is still out regarding the destruction of brain cells (i think i've increased not decreased; however, everyone is different and the effect would depend on someone's physical and mental make-up. i've been combining it with the meds given to me by the m.d. (for the stroke symtoms i'm having right now) and can't wait to get off the m.d. meds and back on my usual morning pipe full. before this stroke thing, i had a run of eighteen years of perfect health (one or two aspirin a year and that's about it). if you don't let the cannabis turn you into a "pot head" with no motivation, it won't. it can help your motivation and your focus (i've seen it turn an unmotivated vietnam vet suffering from post traumatic stress disorder {almost 30 years of laying around doing nothing } back into a creative artist like he was before nam). and it didn't take much medicinal cannabis to get him back into his b-4 nam flow of life. when i told one of the m.d.'s treating my current stroke symptom problem that i had self-prescribed cannabis to replace a med the docs put me on for life in 88, and the cannabis was doing everything the meds were suppose to have done (i had some terrible experiences with the pill prescribed doc meds) plus i was more motivated and focused with the cannabis, and i also used it for spiritual reasons, the doc said: "try it brewed as a tea or used with food, it's less toxic than smoking it." it is a personal decision. and good luck to your friend however he/she decides to treat the health problem.

Where does a misguided opinion like this come from??? I had been on those goofy pain killers for months. Last Thursday, I dumped every prescription I take. Not EVERYONE who takes pain pills will get addicted, OR go nuts. That's just a ridiculous notion. Does it happen? Of course. Does it happen to everyone who takes them? Not by a LONG shot. Welcome back to reality, Gang.

Grass: Questions About It
I really do appreciate all you guys taking time to give me your honest opinions and advice about this.
My friend's health worries me deeply. This fibro debilitates her and she's ready to die. She's only in her early 60s and wants to die!
I know from experience that pain can alter one's mind over time. Antidepressants barely keep her above water. I will talk to her about grass and see what she says.
For myself, I got a new doctor today and I liked her quite well. She agreed with me that I am taking too much Tylenol so she gave me Lortab 10/500 (I was taking 10/650 2-3 times daily plus 12 Tylenols a day) for the bad pain days as well as a trial prescription of Ultram for routine pain.
Anyone have any experience with Ultram?

Hey Glitter, if you are lost about the kind of grass to help her get, talk to someone you trust who might know, or who smokes it themself. What to look for: Not too many seeds in the bag! Some fairly obvious "hairs" on the bud which will look red and sometimes almost blueish. If someone says "hydroponics", laugh at them. It's just a pot plant that was grown in water as opposed to dirt. Has zero effect on anything.
A strong skunky odor is usually some decent stuff, and if it feels sticky when you crumble it up, it will roll easier. It should have a strong odor of some kind no matter what. If it doesn't, look elsewhere.

BabyRider - I was referring to dose and length of time - Red ? mentioned just taking a couple and was on their butt. They knock you on your butt - first time ever user taking 2 pills or one who has increased to handfuls a day with no relief.
I'm still not sure if I explained that right.
Red
Cold increases the pain - its crippling - soak your feet in hot water

Tylenol, the commonly known brand of acetaminophen (paracetamol in the UK), is toxic to the liver, especially if you drink alcohol.
It's poison. I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.
From postgraduate medicine online:
Taken in doses greater than 150 mg/kg/24 hr (>10 g), acetaminophen is a well-recognized cause of acute liver failure. This is a dose-dependent phenomenon, and the potential for hepatotoxicity after acute overdose is best predicted from an acetaminophen level plotted against the time that has elapsed since ingestion (Rumack-Matthew nomogram) (1).
Chronic moderate to heavy alcohol use potentiates the toxic effects of acetaminophen. Reports in recent years have drawn attention to the development of acute toxic effects on the liver in long-term alcohol users who have ingested acetaminophen, with therapeutic intent, in doses generally considered to be nontoxic (

My friend has fibromyalgia so badly and she's been on Oxycontin/Vicodin/Tramadol/Neurontin/ETC!! for years and is now on morphine which worked for about two days, seriously. Her tolerance has built up so high that after the two days, it stopped working. There's nothing left to do for her now as far as we know. She gets pain across her arms and chest that she can't differ from a heart attack. She won't know, she says, if and when she really does have a heart attack.
BabyRider, I am saddened to hear that it does kill brain cells, because I was thinking it was looking pretty good there. I wonder what a comparison would be? My friend is very intelligent and knowledgeable about all kinds of things; I wonder how long it would be till we noticed anything? I do remember kids at school being burnouts but they were kind of stupid to begin with.
I can't relate, I don't think, to the pain you guys have. I take vicodin for osteo arthritis in my feet and ankles (was born with clubfeet, have had two operations) and after about three years of off and on usage, my tolerance level is at the dangerous point so I am going to ask my new doctor tomorrow about other pain killers. Right now according to all I've read on vicodin, if I keep going, I'm going to get hooked with the amount I'm taking and I don't need a problem like that for sure. I wouldn't compare my pain with yours or my friend's, but I am able to appreciate living with pain on a daily basis. Yesterday and today, I have hurt so badly I can hardly walk, no exaggeration. Just going out to feed my foster dogs is a chore. I am sorry for you all who have even worse pain.
Thank you for taking my questions seriously and taking time to answer them as I felt a bit silly posting them, but I knew you guys would come through!
a friend of mine who has a doc prescription for cannabis recommended a book written in the 1800's (by a doc) describing research about the medicinal value of cannabis and what medical problems it would help. he couldn't remember the name or author of the book but the doc in Oakland CA who told him about it is Dr. Todd Mikuryea (perhaps you could locate him through the internet for the name).
can fibromyalgia be treated with any of the new stem cell research? my cousin just had stem cell cancer treatment and is out of pain and the cancers in remission (took about 100 days from the transplant - i watched them do the transplant, all by IV type transfusion, very easy). wish your friend well and let her know she's got people thinking of her and praying for her.

i just checked out dr. Mikuriya's web site - that in itself is worth reading and having your friend read. at the bottom of the site is a list of reference books, the one titled: marijuana: medical papers 1839-1972 is probably the one my friend made reference about.
there's a number of other reference books also listed.
