Report cards.

Mine used to say that I started work well but failed to finish it off, easily distracted, showed promise but needed to concentrate more. It summed me up fairly well! Able to concentrate more now - except when computer is on and then I can't help visiting the garden:)

Up until I was say, 9, I was painfully shy. School was hell for me. Kids picked on me left and right. So I made no effort to be friendly with them, all my effort was put into trying to be invisible. My report cards would say stuff like "Terri makes no effort to be friendly with others." Kids would spit in my food at lunch, hit me and kick me, laugh at me; why the hell would I want to be friendly to them?! Even some of my teachers were mean to me because I was "different." :(

But that comment still rankles, 32 years later. Adults, watch what kids hear you say. You can do damage.

Later on in junior high, the cards would say something like "Terri is exceptionally bright and polite but needs work on improving her skills with others." Or "Terri is a joy to have in class and has exceptional potential but lacks motvation."

Yep.

:)

What a fun question, Magenta Flame.

The only thing I can remember (been a few years...over 20)...."Wendy needs to apply herself. I was a social butterfly and applied myself to that arena just fine and dandy!!

I have 3 boys, and the middle one has been Honor Roll student for 3 full years now...he works very hard at it...the other two, work as much as needed and get good grades just not honor roll...It is very important to watch what you say around children and being the "role model"...

I always got good reviews because I was such a quiet, obedient, and intelligent child. :D
