Cops at Jiffy Lube
I took the truck in for an oil change, my son uses it to drive to work. Right behind me pulls up a cop! I thought, oh, oh, the truck is all dirty, and he's going to find something to ticket me for. Ha-the cop was getting his oil changed! Don't they have mechanics at the station to do these things?
The cop had 2 tail lights out too the Jiffy Lube guy told him!

Most police forces have contracts with outside automotive repair facilities to do the required work to their vehicles. And yes, there usually is a dollar amount per car set for repairs for each time it is serviced.

well, it is free to them personally,
and the citizens tax dollars is what actually pays for it...
and I don't mind that, just as long as they're doing their job.

our county sheriff dept. has a garage on site for most things, except body work of course. they also repair radios, and all kinds of other equipment.....i had to laugh, we got a directive from up above quite a while ago that we had to check ALL fluids, etc. etc. before we took a car. so i saw my sgt. go out and kick the tires and then drive off! :driving: ...i never let him forget it either! :wah:

I always thought they would have their own garage. But one thing I like here, the cops take their cars home for the night. There are police cars parked in front of their homes, at the stores, everywhere. It must make a crook think twice before doing something!

i agree the take-home cars are a deterrent. but a dept. has to have enough vehicles for that. and some people got into trouble for using the take-home cars to drive their families in, not a safe thing to do. ...i meant to mention my sheriff also has a mini car wash and gas pump on site.
