At what point do you worry? Lets say for the threads sake the person concerned does not have a mobile phone. After what length of time do you panic? do you ring round friends, place of employment ect

Oiy if it is my child I panic after about an hour..... I could not imagine my child without her phone.
When I was married gosh 3-6 hours before I tried to find the old goat at some bar ahahahahaha
If anybody were more than 2 hours late I would start to worry, and would be making phone calls. Especially if this was not their normal style to be so late.
2 hours is time enough if they person had some kind of work related delay, or car issue etc, as well it's a short enough time time frame incase they were in trouble, someone could get to them.

if i was late home by more than half an hour my friends would be very worried coz when i got home sue would kill me

As Minks says, depends on past history - are they fanatically punctual or are they regularly hours late.
The one time I did panic was when my daughter was half hour late home from work. We 'phoned them and they said she'd left on time. By the time I'd driven there they were sending out the search parties as well. In the end it turned out she'd taken a workmate to the doctors and been delayed whilst they looked for a missing perscription but, given that she was working at a secure hospital for the criminally insane we couldn't take a chance.
Generally I give it a couple of hours past when I expect her.

I won't Waite very long I am a very worrisome person. A few months ago The wife and I went out with our daughter, She is 27. Well at the end of the night we went looking for her but she was nowhere to be found. We talked to a few of her friends and they said they think she left in a cap. So we went home. My Daughter lives 5 min from our house so we went to see if she was there. She was not. As soon as I got home I started calling her friends. No body seen her. I was worried as hell. She finally came home at 11.am the next morning. I gave her hell. She said "dad I am 27 years old". The age of your children does not stop you from worrying. All she had to do was call. She said she would not do it again.

I once got an ear-bending off my ex when I got home from work 5 minutes late. Yes, that's right....300 seconds. Bearing in mind I had to walk a mile to the train station when I left work hopefully on time. Then the train might be a tad late and if it was crowded would take longer to empty at each station. Then I had a walk from the station.
Me and my ex are VERY different. I always wait at least 6 minutes before having a sh1t-fit :rolleyes:

this is interesting...My son has just started driving and now has independence with work/girlfriend/his own car...etc...so like Fisher said...doesn't matter how old they are...still worry...I keep tabs on him pretty tight, but if I didn't hear from him for 2 hours, I'd be freakin OUT!! One night he got mad at me, after I went to bed, he decided to teach me...took his car out (the gas gage is broken on it--old car) and ran out of gas...well I was asleep and didn't hear the phone...he ended up having to borrow gas and phone and got home fine to tell me about it later...After he told me, I told him...well, I'm glad you are okay...it was a lesson learned, and thankful that nothing serious happened to him!! (little hot-head!!)...
