how do you know when its ripe?

i tend to just cut them open but im presuming there is actually a way to tell??.....

They should be "heavy" for their size and the spot on the bottom should

be pretty dark yellow. Heft a couple of similar size if you can in the store,

a lot of times the weight will vary by quite a bit, the heaviest is the one

with the most juice.

I always hold the melon in two hands & push the ends & if it's soft ( not too soft ) a little springy, then that's the time for me to eat it x.

oooh and whats the best way to cut it to get the seeds out easily??

(got a melon too abbey and its most definitely ripe!! think its gonna be pudding tonite
