six day road trip conclusion

Post by teramiabullfrog »

top of the morning to all you dizzy, orbit riding, wobbling earth-ship traveling forum gardening fans, out there, and the rest of the day to you as well. i left san francisco on the 8th and arrived in gig harbor, wa (near tacoma) yesterday. i stopped at the post office in every town and city along hwy 101 (n. ca redwoods, coastal oregon, and the olympic peninsula), 57 in all. only three of the 57 had any missing child "Postal Bulletin" notices on display - quite a few still had the "3-ring", sheet protector enclosed missing person notices, that i left in the post office lobbies last year, on display in the post office lobbies. the three post offices with a missing child "Postal Bulletin" notices on display include Olema, CA, Tomales, CA, and Coos Bay, OR; unfortunately, the notices they had on display were four years old and since the majority (over 95%) of the included missing children are non-custodial parental abduction victims, the missing children pictured on these old missing child "Postal Bulletins" have all been located or recovered (in search and rescue after a catastrophic disaster "located" means found alive, "recovered" means their remains were found). the old "3-ring" missing person display binders were replaced by the 07 updated version, in all 57 post offices. all in all it was an incredible road trip. along one section of the oregon coast there was a combination of big waves, heavy snow (very rare here), the sun was shining at the same time it was snowing, and there was a rainbow over the chimney stack rocks, incredibly beautiful.

more incredibly, the news of finding two abducted boys (one missing for over four and a half years) came out the day i arrived at my destination. fantastic news, it gives inspiration and hope to the families who's missing child has been missing for two, four, eight, some more than ten years, and encourages the volunteers who post missing person flyers (wherever they can, stores, gas stations, community bulletin boards, post offices, etc.), to continue their efforts and resolve to, communicate with the fed elected politicians, fed committees, and fed agencies responsible for managing the national programs to help find and prevent missing persons, and encourage them to fix the Child Alert Program (and other missing person laws and programs) so it (they) function at the level of efficiency they are funded for, instructed, and originally intended.

our question is, did the missing child "Postal Bulletin" notices printed in Nov. or Dec. of 02 or in early 03 include a photo of Shawn Hornbeck? and, if his photo id was included, at any time during his abduction which post offices had his notice on display? if his photo id info was posted in every post office in the country, as instructed in the Child Alert Program, it would seem someone would have recognized him as an abducted missing endangered child; especially, if a recent photo, when he was first abducted, was used on the "Postal Bulletin" notice. and, if the local postal carrier had seen the missing child "Postal Bulletin" notice of Shawn (if they did indeed print one) on display in the post office workroom floor area (as instructed in the Child Alert Program) it seems pretty likely Shawn would have been located much quicker than he was.

as i always ask, please help the families of the missing by going to your local post office, check to see if there are any missing child "Postal Bulletin" notice displayed, and get back to me with what you find (include the zip code, how many notices are displayed and the month and year printed on them. we've been in over 2,000 post offices, in nine western U.S. states, and only found five post offices with a display of missing child "Postal Bulletin" notices.

enjoy the great outdoors and nature, hope your having one of your "good health" days, and keep on FG'n.
