(Will the akubra hat help cheer him up?):-3

Curiousity got the best of me....I'm SURE an akubra hat would cheer him up, so I'm getting one for myself and one for Clancy and one for anyone else who'd like to wear something as cool as this:

It's amazing. We'll soon have all of America and all of Scotland in akubras. I gotta speak to my stockbroker about investing in this obvious growth industry. My pride and joy is actually a real cowboy hat, given to me by Okie, in Oklahoma City many years ago. Love that hat. (And it works fine for flamenco dancing too)

Clancy, I knew you were ill, but didn't know the nature of your pain. I'm so sorry. I've always felt privileged to count you among my friends.

Let's all stay on an even keel, and let the few in here, who seem unable to be peaceful, just race around in their own storming.

Here's two pics I just took. One of young Dieter in his school finery (all dressed up to show his Dad who finally arrived, hours late, to pick him up for the day and give us a break).. and of the family magpies who kept us company on the porch while we were waiting. Then I am really going to do some work.

PS - Note our green lawn!!! That's drought grass.

This kid has had more trauma in his short life than a lot of people ever see.. grin. His world regularly goes down the toilet. Dad being late barely got noticed. He has been looking forward to seeing dad, and talking about it, for days. He just jumped for joy and sort of quivered all over with happiness. Breaks your heart.

The saucy birds are very fine critters. Aussie magpies are not nearly as attractive to look at as American and European cousins, but their song is way way better. Beautiful. Magpies can be quite ferocious and in spring, you hafta watch out for the divebombers. But magpies are territorial, get to know their own people, and never bother them. At the moment they line up at the front door every morning, and if we're outside, they come and talk to us.

They shall not be tossed on the barbie. However, the possums that decided to go courting just outside my window at 3am .....
