Post by Lulu2 »

I was surprised to see a fuss about this, Val! All the stores in San Ysidro, CA will take pesos. (For those who don't know, it's a border town with stores like KMart, WalGreens, etc, and lots of CAMBIOS where you can change money.) On weekends, Mexicans come across and Americans cross over...everyone spending money.

US merchants will take pesos, just as Mexican merchants will usually take dollars.

And so it goes.

This really shouldn't be such a big deal. Pizza Patron is an independently owned chain. If they want to accept Pesos as payment, they have every right to do that.

Just like It says in the article; It's not just Mexicans that use them. Americans use 'em too.

I use them. I have family in Mexico. When I cross into Mexico, I'll change some cash into pesos, and I don't always use it all. As i type I have about 500 unused pesos. I see it as a convenience that Pizza Patron is accepting them.
The poolhall's a great equalizer. In the poolhall, nobody cares how old you are, how young you are, what color your skin is or how much money you've got in your pocket... It's about how you move. I remember this kid once who could move around a pool table like nobody had ever seen. Hour after hour, rack after rack, his shots just went in. The cue was part of his arm and the balls had eyes. And the thing that made him so good was... He thought he could never miss. I know, 'cause that kid was me.

Hmm....I live exactly 15 minutes from Canada. We don't take Canadian money here. The next thing we'll be seeing is taking money from Egypt, Africa, wherever, and the already wrecked monetary position here will just get worse. This country is aces at shooting itself in the foot.

Barring activity like this could have some affect on illegal immigration. As a STARTING point.

British sterling is welcome in many countries, (maybe they get a better exchange rate)

Although Britain is in Europe we still wont accept the Euro,

even Dunnes an Irish store in the Uk that has euro as well as GBP on the tag wont accept it!

Cash is cash as far as i see it, providing the store does'nt lose out on the exchange rate what's the problem?

Well, I know here in NY, we have alot of Canadian currency floating around. In most cases, the stores have no problem taking the coins, but usually wont take the bills. I do not think they will take the dollar coins, though. So, isn't this basically the same thing?

Fib, why should they have the right? It's not the "coin of the realm" so

to speak. I'm really not trying to start anything, just interested in your

thoughts.

I think anybody who goes across the border and has too many pesos

when they get back should get them exchanged themselves.

Who figures out the taxes for all that, anyway? It just doesn't seem

right. Take some Monopoly money in, it's about as good.

It's like I said Above. It's mostly Americans who have leftover pesos after a trip to Mexico.

Have you never paid with dollars when abroad? Many merchants in many countries will accept them. They add a tad to the exchange rate to make it worth their while, you don't pay commission to convert and it's convenient so it works.

Taking Pesos within the US is no different - it's a matter of convenience for both sides - and since when did any shop account for 100% of their tax turnover?

Ask Galbally about cross border exchange in the days of the Punt - both currencies had a 50p piece that was almost identical but there could be a 30% difference in the value.

I've never been "abroad" but I wouldn't expect to use a "dollar" in Paris.

I'm not going to be naive enough to think any shop is 100% on the

way I am.

I just think it speaks to the breaking down of standards in this country.

This country's banking systems and commerce and all of it is based on

valuation of the dollar. Not the pound or the euro or the franc OR the

peso. I'd sure like to see it kept that way.

Many Americans *expect* to be able to use their dollars when abroad - indeed, the company I an working for makes a good living out of letting Americans buy their goods in Dollars when using their cards overseas.

Let me try to get a perspective on what you're discussing, because it makes little sense to me so far. Some English town-centre shops take Euros in cash, especially in the South of England and Northern Ireland. Quite a few take dollars and have done since I was a lad, though the exchange rate isn't what it was. What we have under discussion here, though, is some Spicshit pizza patron in Dallas who lets Vaders pay in Pesos and for some reason this distresses the white supremacists? Beaners, I'm told, are simply unable to behave like humans in any proper setting, period. It will always involve heavy amounts of alcohol and violence and the pizza chain will have to be constantly watched by the police.

This is the Jew beginning to condition the Land of the Free to accept the new "Amero" currency that they have planned for Canada, Mexico and the USA.

I hope I'm getting the language right, it's not one I often use. I can't see any other agenda which would find a problem with individual shops or chains deciding to offer a service like this.

No Mexicans were killed in the production of this post, which employs heavy-handed sarcasm. Complaints, if any, should be addressed to the author.

How do you all enjoy being painted as racists in such a charming way? Slapping someone with that label is SUCH an easy shot, because it can't be refuted and the nastiness of it tends to linger in the air.

I was quoting directly from one of the nastiest Whites-Only forums on the Internet at http://www.vnnforum.com/showthread.php?t=43033

The reason I did it was to draw the parallel between what these bigots on ForumGarden were delicately edging around and the full unvarnished vileness of what underlies the thread from the beginning.

Edit to add: I watched American History X last night, that might have something to do with the degree of anger with which I composed the post which offended you.

Fibonacci, you can find all sorts of hatred and filth on the internet....it doesn't have much to do with slapping labels on people here, does it? Whether or not someone is used to dealing with multiple currencies...they can still express an opinion without the risk of being labeled a RACIST! Don't you agree?

Shall we consider the alternatives? Maybe I'm a member there. Maybe I googled and it came onto my screen and shocked me.

What I Googled, to show you how popular the White-Site is, was "pay in pesos" and the page I posted the link to came up fifth in the world rankings. How sick is that?

I typed "pay in pesos" into Google so I could find out what the thread was about. Seeing that hate-filth rank so high in the responses gave me a pretty good clue, I thought.

That's what the question can boil down to if you want to pick it as your defence. Is this thread about whether or not someone is used to dealing with multiple currencies, or is it about illegal immigrants and migrant workers and border jumpers and whatever else eats the American psyche this year. Ah, whoops, careless me, I thought it was the immigrants. It's really about dealing with multiple currencies. If only I'd known before I spoke.

As far as currency goes... yes, US dollars are accepted at most stores in Canada. They have the exchange rate posted at the cash register. A good example of expanding one's vision here would be to realise that large corporations trade on the international market in any currency and every currency they want. No one gives two shakes about that. It all happens through the banking system and larger amounts of "dollars" are passing hands. When you buy something on the internet paypal will convert the dollars for you. To react against pesos for pizza is narrow and paranoid. Have a good laugh and shake it off.
