Do you think we need a ‘value North Star’?

It appears to me that we sapiens need a ‘value North Star’ upon which to fix our voyage. We need a reference point upon which we can focus our attention when trying to determine what of value we can and should do in life.

Religion, or God, serves as the ‘value North Star’ for some people; for others it is nationalism; for others, that fix is to own as much good stuff as possible; to others it is power; for some it is family; and I guess there are many other such ultimate values.

I have tried to examine my inner voices to determine just what my value North Star is and does it need to be changed. I have determined that, by some turn of events, perhaps completely willy-nilly, my value North Star is life on this planet. My guidance for fixing value is ultimately dependent upon its aiding or hindering life on this planet.

I often speculate that human life is a hindrance to maximizing the ‘good life’, of all life, on this planet. I often speculate that if all life on this planet were given a vote in this matter that they would throw sapiens overboard.

What do you think?

what would they do if they didn't have us sapiens to entertain them? most of the real as.-holes are on tv. if you go out and about and meet and talk to people on the street most of them are decent, interesting, and conscientious about environment and concerns about traveling a course of a value north star. and, eventually all the as.-holes will be gone. so don't walk the plank yet, matey.

What do I think? I tkink that if sapiens should be voted off the world then let us start with you.However, if you want to focus on something of importance then focus on your nation. I have been noticing alarming trends in our government that need to be delt with and soon. For example, why is the war in the Middle East taking so long ? We beat WW 1 and WW 2 inless time! I cannot believe that it is incompetence that hinders victory. Watch your government; it is a beast that tries to serve only itself.

Why even wonder about a North Star? If "sapiens" as you put have no more value than you give us what's the point?

If sapiens are removed from the planet do you think you have been selected to experience the wonderful result?

What is it I'm missing here?

I am a sapien just like the rest but I think I see the problem whereas most of my brothers and sisters do not.

Um, he's a coastie, I do not think he would sink a boat.

Everyone has their own "inner voices" and if you think the human race has little value compared to the rest of the planet, that is your opinion.

And The Pole Star does change, over a period of time. Scientifically, and philosophically.
