I imagine that 'us Brits' question US politics so heavily, because it's something we don't know everything about.

Our own politicians are just new ones from the same old mould (sp) and we know allllll about them.

Same with the Royals - perhaps if the royal family was nominated on a 25 year basis, they might work a bit harder. If I knew my job was safe, no matter what I did, I might be less inclined to work hard!

America and Americans pave the way for bashing. We lead the front in publicly humiliating and degrading our presidents and our politicians. We do it publicly on TV and in newspapers. We do it on Saturday Night Live and the whole world laughs. I think that the reason that Americans and the British spend time discussing each others countries is because there is a familiaarity between the two, born out thier shared beginning and their history. America is sitting at the helm of the ship that could very well have everyone in the world blown to bits. And so if anyone has something to say regarding not liking being a passenger against their will, or not liking the course it is their right to speak out. Like others here I am not interested in the politics of either country. I am interested in the people. The world is out of controll. Many people deep down inside are frightened. They know there is nothing they can do to change things. Intellects and those with a great understanding of politics ans world events will attempt to make a difference by voicing their opinion. Bashing is quite acceptable just as our pushing our way into places where people who dont want us is acceptable. I admire people who are patriotic But I really admire thinkers who will not allow blind patriotism stop them from considering that we might be like cows being led to the slaughter. The smartest and most diplomatic speakers know that you can say anything you want to say, and find out much that you want to know. Its all in the way you ask.

Well it seems to be being sidetracked into Prince Charles's adultery. Perhaps we should get started on Diana's adultery? None of the Royals come out of the whole episode covered in glory but it bloomin' years ago now for goodness sake. If her sons can be adult and accept Camilla then what business of ours is it.

As for saying that you just want the people who bash the US to join in then perhaps they should have had a personal invitation by PM.

Which brings up another interesting bit of rudeness. Americans rudeness to each other, As a " Yankee" living in the south.... you cant imagine the amount of ignorant ridiculous bashing we put up with down here.
